[Following is the official OnlineBookClub.org Review of How to Write Really Good Research Papers, Really Fast.]

How to Write Really Good Research Papers, Really Fast is an 82 page, non-fiction read by Bob Ward. The book has the usual how-to or reference guide cover. Always works and doesn’t leave you wondering what you are reading about. However, if the cover doesn’t clue you in, there is the subtitle that along with the straightforward main title also makes sure that you understand the topic 110%.

“Easy and specific steps to get you organized and writing, very quickly and very well”

In my opinion, the subtitle and title could use a little tweaking, especially since the target readers are your college aged students.

The book has seven chapters that go from “Overview” to “How Did We Do That?” Again, it is all very to the point as to not waste the readers time.

First two chapters of the book, give the background on your everyday college student’s battles with trying to juggle so many classes and so much pressure. It is hard to give so much of your time to just ONE subject, especially a subject requiring a massive research paper. Not all students or even teachers know the correct way to write a paper. As a recent graduate, I can confirm this 100%. Form is almost more important than what is actually used in the paper.

The method of research explained in this book is very different than what I and probably many others have been taught. Gone is the usual MLA and APA outline format. For some this may be a hard habit to break, while some may see this new style as a true savior. The method introduced by Bob Ward, is said to cut down on time and some unneeded extra reading.

Now before the book gets into the breakdown of research - outline - print, Ward makes it clear to the reader that you yourself may know far more techniques than he. However he makes it very clear, that after the research, HE calls the shots. Now as Ward gets into the breakdown, each “phase” is explained carefully. The outline may confuse you on first read but after you see it in use, it becomes a lot easier to understand.

The “in use” I speak of, is Ward’s own research paper. This was a very wise decision. For a lot of people, it is easier to learn and retain new information by seeing rather than reading or being told. Sections of Ward’s 20 page paper are highlighted and explained to show how the format was used. It should also be said that Ward mentions many times that you should follow all guidelines from your instructor on a paper, but you can fit his style to work with it.

I give How to Write Really Good Research Papers, Really Fast by Bob Ward 3 out of 4 stars. This was a really neat and quick guide to helping out students that are probably very stressed out. The writing is clear cut and easy to process. Book only has minor issues regarding some of the title wording. I will give this method a try on my next assignment. Hope it works out well. Thanks Bob!

Thank you for reviewing this book. I was recently pondering if I should purchase this one or not. But after reading your review I think I will have to get this one for my reference shelf.
