Rest in God: A Prayer Journal with 100 Prayers and Scriptures for Daily Needs by Yvonne M. Morgan is a non-fiction Christian book containing many different types of prayers with various themes. The author tries to encourage the reader through the prayers and Biblical verses in the text, offering them a new spiritual outlook on life. The tone in this book is simple and casual, so readers can easily understand the prayers.

The first prayers in the book are related to comfort, as the author gives the reader verses that can console and support the reader. Some of the verses are from Psalm 23, Psalm 27, and Isaiah 40. The next short prayers are asking God for guidance and direction. The author talks about freedom from temptation, as well as glorifying God through every action. After this, the author writes some prayers for peace and harmony. She discusses the importance of loving one’s neighbor, while she also includes some prayers for the protection of friends and family members. Besides this, Morgan writes about the significance of praising and thanking God for the good things in life. She thanks God for the gift of salvation, as well as His faithfulness. She also offers praise for the blessings in her life.

There were numerous advantages to this book. Firstly, I liked the fact that most prayers were accompanied by a Biblical verse, which in turn encourages the reader, offering him/her a reminder of God’s faithful promises. Furthermore, the book was excellently structured, as the chapters were logically and rationally organized, allowing the reader to clearly comprehend the author’s prayers. What I liked most about this book was that the author’s expression was original, creative, and authentic, which added interest to the text.

What I disliked most about this book was that it had some grammatical, typographical, and syntax errors, which were too many for a short book like this. Therefore, this book needs another round of professional editing.

I recommend this book to Christian readers who like devotionals and prayer journals. Readers who need some daily inspiration from the Bible may find this prayer journal very helpful. Atheists and non-Christian readers will not enjoy this book because the author’s perspective is Christian, and the text contains numerous verses from the Bible.

In summary, a rating of 3 out of 4 stars is deserved by this book. I deducted a star because of the lack of professional editing in the text. Nonetheless, I did not wish to give it a lower rating, as it was expertly organized, authentic, and inspiring.

There is nothing like prayers. It is a way of communing with God. Do that everyday and see how you'll feel refreshed and protected.
Thanks for the review
