Official Review: Dimes From Heaven by Monica L. Morrissey
Monica L. Morrisey is an empath and a highly sensitive person. The definition of an empath is "a person with the paranormal ability to apprehend the mental or emotional state of another individual." The definition of a highly sensitive person (HSP) is "someone who experiences acute physical, mental, or emotional responses to stimuli." In Dimes From Heaven, Monica lets us look into her life as she describes the challenge of growing up in a family where the expression of feelings was not encouraged. She couldn't function as her true self because her gifts were minimized and repressed, which caused her to become physically ill. This story is her journey to discover the world beyond the human experience and accept her gifts and challenges as an empath and an HSP.
There are three main themes in the book: physical healing, emotional healing, and connecting with spirits. At 50 years old, Monica began to be more aware of her empathic abilities and gifts. Monica made an interesting statement that seemed to capture her perspective as an empath. "I have always felt that I have had one foot on earth and one foot in Heaven. I had to learn to connect my experience on earth and my experience with Spirit. This part of me is my highly sensitive system." It must have taken a lot of courage to share this intimate journey.
The Dimes From Heaven story begins with Monica's father making a necklace for each of his children and grandchildren using the Winged Liberty Head dimes in his coin collection. Monica's siblings and all of her father’s grandchildren received a dime necklace and a portion of his personal coin collection. These Liberty Head dimes became the point of connection to their father/grandfather after he passed away.
The only thing I disliked about the book was that some chapters seemed to ramble. The self-talk was redundant at times. But overall, the story of communicating with her father after his death was fascinating.
This book could be great with the help of a professional editor. I found several errors throughout the book. I am giving this book a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. I can't rate it higher because of the errors, but I really enjoyed the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one. Monica provided clarity and answers to some of the questions I have been wrestling with for years. Dimes From Heaven gives us hope that our life energy will indeed live on forever.
