How to Low Carb Your Summer is a "special installment" in a small series of books about eating a low carb lifestyle. The first book is Low Carb Your LIfestyle and the second is Low Carb Your Holidays. At only forty-two pages, this is a handy little book to have around if you've been thinking about losing weight by cutting back on carbs.

The book is mostly written by Debby James, but her husband contributed also. It starts with a preview of what you will find in the book and then Bobby James, her husband, writes a "quick review" of the original book. He continues by telling us how he finally talked his wife, Debby (referred to as the Queen of Low Carb), into sharing her knowledge of a low carb lifestyle by writing these books. He his referred to as "Married to the Queen". It is obvious that he backs her 100% and believes in her completely. He does go on a bit and you begin to wonder when you'll get to the low carb information.

When Debby's part of the book starts, it's obvious she knows her stuff. She includes a bit of the science behind carbohydrates and gives great information about how many carbs we should ingest in a day and how to correctly read the carbohydrate content on a nutrition label. This was information that I had never heard or read before. She also includes some great low carb recipes at the end, such as ribs and barbecue sauce, to get us through the summer barbecue season and not overindulge. The whole book is written in a fairly conversational style which makes it easy to follow and understand.

One problem I found is that the reader is given two links, one to the original book and the other to a site called 7 Ways in 7 Days. The authors did this to say "thank you" for downloading this specific installment. When I attempted to go to either of these sites they were no longer working.

How to Low Carb Your Summer, though, is good for the information it does give and the recipes are a plus. I would read it for the recipes alone. If you are wanting something quick just to get you started with the low carb lifestyle, this would be the book for you. If you're looking for a play by play to tell you exactly what to eat then you probably need a book a little more substantial.

I rate the book 3 out of 4 stars.
