Coronavirus: Its Impact on the World by Gaston Metelus is an effort to share the authors' thoughts on current events as it relates to everyday life. Touching many topics reaching from economics to religion, healthcare, and philosophy to name a few. This book is told in the first person and is broken down into 14 short chapters, resulting in a quick read of 82 pages.

The text is a little scattered but follows the same trend of topics mentioned above for the most part. This book is written in the manner of a historian and or theologian. So I believe people who enjoy reading theology would enjoy this book. It might appear dull to others. For example, on page 44 Gaston states: "In this world today, it is almost impossible to find someone with the imprint of God." The text can get a little presumptuous with the reader's biblical knowledge, however. Also, the book was riddled with grammar and spelling errors. The one case in point that was surprising to me was the misspelling of Matthew as "Mathieu" on page65.

What I enjoyed about this writing was the philosophical approach taken to relay the author's take on current events. However, I found the book lacking in many ways. I am a student of theology and while reading this book I was reminded of many non-fiction religious books I have read. This is a pro and a con because the title and introduction are a little misleading of the full context of the book.

What I did not like about this book was how poorly edited it was. It was very difficult to appreciate the content with so many grammatical errors. For example, in the first chapter, there were 5 improperly hyphenated words. Unfortunately, this trend continued throughout the whole book. I even opened the eBook on multiple devices to make sure it was not just a formatting issue. Also, there were at least two areas where the first letter of a sentence was not capitalized. These distracted my reading and show a high need for another round of editing.

In conclusion, I did not really enjoy the book. Mostly because of the grammatical errors and because the book did not flow well in my opinion. I, therefore, rate this book 2 out of 4 stars. The rating would have been higher if not for the lack of editing. I would not recommend this book to anyone until it is revised. At that point, I would recommend it primarily to people who like non-fiction theology.

This topic is one that piqued my interest especially because it discussed the current pandemic. However, its quite disheartening that the text is not well arranged and there is poor editing. Hope the author does better
