You’ve Got This! by Dale Barr is the perfect Weight Loss program companion. This self-help book helps readers on their weight-loss program by keeping them motivated. This book is not a weight-loss program itself. In fact, there is no “diet” or exercise plan to be found in this book. It is merely a companion book to help supplement and encourage you on your journey.

You’ve Got This! takes you through your thoughts and feelings of the first month of your journey. It is separated into 30 days, each being its own chapter. Within each it gives you a mood indicator which tells you how you are feeling on a specific day; that’s not to say you will definitely be feeling this way on this specific day but the book allows you to jump around to different chapters depending on your mood that day. For example, Day 7 is called Can I Get a Little Persistence? and the mood indicator for that day is Feeling challenged; however, if you are feeling more like Day 10: The Tortoise and the Hare with the mood indicator: Feeling the need for variety, you skip to that chapter. It allows you to read specific chapters that are important to you instead of reading it once through and being done with the book. She always starts off the chapter with a motivational speech and encouraging you to stay the course. Also within the chapter there is a mindset tool, which tells you how to handle that specific situation that is hard for you to overcome for that day.

This book is not only for the first 30 days of your journey, it’s a lifetime companion. You can keep using and rereading this book if you need motivation during a certain stage in your journey. This book can also be used not only for motivation during a weight loss journey. This book can be used for any challenge or anytime you just need some life motivation.

I really liked how real and trustworthy Barr becomes to the reader. In the introduction, which I highly suggest reading before using this book, she creates such trust with the reader by baring her soul for others to learn why she wrote the book and how she came to the point in her life that she knew what you are going through on your weight loss journey.

There was not anything that I did not like about this book. I think this book could actually be changed to be not only a weight loss journey companion, but a book to help all people through certain challenges in their lives.

I would give You’ve Got This! a rating of 4 out of 4 stars because of the realness and the motivational skills of the writing. This book would be a perfect gift to give to someone on a weight loss journey or even just considering losing some weight.
