Don’t Mind Me, I’m Just Having A Bad Life is written by Lewis Kemper. This is a memoir based entirely on the life of Kemper and the events that become a recurring nightmare years later. Kemper begins the book detailing the horrifying turn of events that he was succumbed to as a child. This in itself must have been heartbreaking and this becomes much clearer deeper into the story that begins to slowly unfold. The author allows us access to his life growing up and all the feelings he faced growing up. I can’t help but notice that if he had people to confide he may have turned his life into something special.

The first couple of pages of this memoir felt like I knew the author personally and I found myself feeling anxious about the way he was abused as a child. I feel the author had used this memoir to confront his feelings on the wrongdoings in his childhood and reflects on his past and how it could have changed, respectively. The ending of the book, however, took a turn that felt a little on edge. This ending could have turned a different way which reflects how his childhood could have looked if he had not been subjected to horrifying abuse. The turn did take, however, reassured me that he was able to suss out a pathway forward to mould a much more engaging, adventurous life, one he can enjoy.

The book is created within 375 pages and represents many themes that are active today. Some of the themes include sex and abuse. These themes are referenced a couple of times throughout; although these are not the main purpose of the book. I did find some small scenes that made me feel quite timid, one of which was the scene involving the physic he visited. This was quite unnerving for me to read and observe. I did find myself emotionally attracted to the book.

This memoir was mostly highlighting the major substantial unfortunate events. There were mostly positive elements that I did pick up whilst observing this book. The author pens his life experiences and corporates his feelings in a way that is quite believable. I thought this was quite crucial for the reader to understand the author. I also enjoyed the layout in the way the author writes. I found it most satisfying with the way he wrote this book and how straightforward it was. I did not find anything I did not like.

After reading the book Don’t Mind Me, I’m Just Having A Bad Life by Lewis Keeper I began to instantly sympathise with him on many moral high grounds including the pain he felt. I found myself hooked almost immediately, this influenced my opinion of the book slightly. With this in mind amongst the other elements, I believe the book to be 4 out of 4 stars. This rating seems realistic for the book I have read because it reflects the author’s life with major respect, and it feels very real and believable. Also, it is professionally edited throughout. Due to the nature of the book, I would suggest that it is an adults-only audience. The author expresses his true feelings very well and brutally confronts his past. The truth he expresses makes me quite honoured.
