Research has shown that Gen X and millennials have forgotten how a family structure should be. They have generalized that wherever you find children, you have found a family. In fact, these younger ones perceive such structure as normal. Different scholars via articles and books have also challenged the ideal family structure in recent times. Some have given their reasons based on the life complexities, re-marriages, and same-sex union. Different Family Structures is an informative book written to redirect the reader's knowledge back to the right family structure. While reading this book, I began to question my thoughts and assumptions about family structure. Whatever you think you know about family is questioned within the pages of this book.

I liked how Mildred Stallworth presented the different obtainable family units. I realized I had very limited knowledge of the so many types of family units in society. Instead of outrightly stating the ideal structure, she gave and explained other units. This is a writing style most articles and books on the family structure I have read lack. Again, the author's illustrative presentations of each of these family units are highly commendable.

Family structure is an undermined topic with a vast impact on society. Books as this would be instrumental in effecting positive changes in several aspects of society. That said, I saw nothing to dislike in this book as I enjoyed every bit of it. I saw no errors to note, and I would surmise this book was professionally edited.

I highly recommend this book to scholars as a good resource in defining family and how it should be structured. As such, economists would find this book useful in the study of the national and international economy. Several studies have shown that cities with married parents have better economic indicators, such as low child poverty rates. Also, teachers would find this book useful in teaching teenagers about family and the different structures. It would better the development of their societal associations, emotions, and behaviors. They would understand that family is not about a combination of their parents, grandparents, and siblings.

I rate this book four out of four stars. This book's content is written from a place of experience. I also enjoyed the conversational writing style and illustrations. They made reading this book very entertaining. These features highly influenced me to give this book the highest score. There was no reason to give this book a lower rating.

It's good there are books that cover those subjects. It seems like a very actual and important theme. I'm glad to find out it's well written and informative, as I think it also adds a certain seriousness to it. Great review!

Thanks for your detailed review. As the age changed, many social matters have also changed. The approval of same-sex relationships and the modernization, including moving from the countryside to cities have considerably altered the "normal" structure of traditional families. This book sounds like it will be educational for children to learn about the past.

Your viewpoint is the reason I am advocating and recommending young lads read this book. Thank you so much for your comment
