[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Wheels Galore!: Adaptive Cars, Wheelchairs and a vibrant lifestyle with Cerebral Palsy" by Iain M MacLeod.]
Wheels Galore! by Iain M. MacLeod is a helpful and motivational book. Many people are frustrated and confused, while some have given up on themselves due to a health challenge or disability. I've got good news for you! After reading about Iain's life experiences, you will receive the strength to move on and strive for happiness regardless of any situation.
Wheels Galore! is a story about the author. He recounts his experiences and takes the reader on an adventurous journey of his life right from childhood into adulthood. Iain had Cerebral Palsy from the age of three, and it subjected him to a wheelchair. Despite his impediment, he explored and toured around Scotland, America, and Europe using his wheels. Along the line, something happened, and it was an experience that changed his life. Could it be for good or bad? Find out yourself.
The author's clear intention is to make his readers see ability in every disability. And to motivate his readers to keep aiming high and never give up on their aspirations. He also encourages parents whose children are disabled to give their maximum support and believe in them. Mr. Iain is forever thankful to his mum and dad for their unrelenting support and unwavering trust in him to pursue his dreams, and he didn't disappoint them.
I enjoyed the author's description of events and how he narrated his story. He made the story so engaging, touching, and relatable. I applaud the author for his excellent storytelling skills. His sense of humor got me laughing out loud. It added spices to his writing and made it a fun read. One such instance is, "The floors inside were gleaming polished wood, and my elbow crutches were always sliding, and I fell to the floor repeatedly. I would say to people, “I’m from the floor police, and I’ve come to inspect the floors.” I did a lot of floor inspecting!"
In addition, I must commend the author for sharing the story of his life and the hurdles he crossed, even as a disabled person. This act shows bravery! What I liked most in this book was Iain's refusal to be limited despite his shortcoming. Readers will admire his personality, willpower, and determination to enjoy his life and achieve greatness like every other person. He had fun and went on adventurous vacations.
This fascinating story is both touching and inspiring. Sometimes I felt bad for the author due to his numerous falls, but seeing his zeal to achieve his dreams made me feel better. There are vital lessons in this book. Readers will learn that life is unpredictable. So, we have to be ready to adjust quickly when the situation arises. I discovered that disability is a thing of the mind.
There's nothing that I dislike about this book. This memoir is inspiring and a must-read for everyone. And I'm recommending it especially to people with disabilities and their parents. People who need motivation will also benefit from this novel. Due to how I connected with the author's story and his creative writing skills, I'm happy to rate Wheels Galore! a perfect 4 out of 4 stars. I encountered only a few typos throughout my read, so I can convincingly say that the book was professionally edited.
