Official Review: Do Your Children Believe?
Do Your Children Believe? by Terence Chatmon is a thought-provoking book that challenges parents to introspect and re-evaluate their family’s faith and interrogate the spiritual legacy they want to leave behind.
In this book, the author critically and practically explores ways to teach children the word of God and empower them spiritually. This book provides a template to develop successful family plans that will ensure spiritual growth in Christian families.
The book is divided into three parts, with the first part touching on the holy calling placed on parents to lead their families to Christ. The second part dissects the most cumbersome yet crucial groundwork of planning and understanding your why. This section lays the foundation for setting the family vision and establishing the mission. It also offers practical ways to execute the plan. In the last part, the author wraps up by affirming the parents or spiritual leaders that have undertaken the humongous task of of charting a legacy of faith.
Families that desire to grow spiritually but do not know where to begin will find this book resourceful and of great help. Families that already have systems in place but wish to refine them will also benefit from this book.
It is a known fact that younger generations have a unique set of challenges, different viewpoints, and different priorities. It is the responsibility of parents to ensure that they equip the younger generation, empower, and arm them with the word of God. It is also the responsibility of parents to teach the young ones the word so that they may not depart from it. I like that this book practically addresses and corrects the gaps that exist in Christian families.
There was nothing I disliked about this book. It has an orderly layout, with topics and subtopics grouped and broken down in a logical sequence. It was meticulously edited as I did not come across any grammatical or typographical errors. I read this book over several days because I had to pause several times to make notes. I advise readers who wish to pick this book up to allocate sufficient time.
The author shares practical guidance and lessons that can be tailored and easily applied. His family’s experiences and journey are relatable, and the teachings are easy to understand. For these reasons, I am awarding it a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.
The book is best suited to Christian parents as it is based on biblical concepts, teachings, and principles. Parents who wish to bring their kids up through the Christian route will find it helpful.

The best thing parents can do for their kids is teach them. It will then be up to the child to run with the teachings they were brought up on or carve their own religious paths. Thanks for stopping by!Kavita Shah wrote: ↑11 Jun 2021, 10:14 This book will be good for Christian parents. It's important to teach religion early on as it becomes a part of life. Your observations are spot on! But I believe the best thing parents can do for their kids is to arm them with a solid foundation of faith. It will then be up to the child to run with the teachings they were brought up on or carve their own religious paths. Thanks for stopping by Josephe-Anne!Josephe-Anne wrote: ↑13 Jun 2021, 14:30 Young people are becoming less and less interested in biblical teachings, so I'm sure this book can help guide Christian families down a rewarding spiritual path.
