Review of Conversing with Various Entities
Our inquisitive nature will always have us wondering what lies beyond what we can see. In Conversing with Various Entities: An Invitation to Open Your Mind to Wonder, Mary Ellen Wall introduces us to the ancient concept of dowsing, which involves mysterious techniques that have been used in locating several materials, from water in the ground and ores to oil and gemstones. She also takes us through how these techniques can be used to access several beings, like our guardian angels, extraterrestrials, and elementals, while we also learn about the demons that can lead us astray and how to avoid them.
Mary Ellen Wall is very detailed in describing how things work in this confusing aspect of the world, and she fully documents her personal experiences with dowsing, from the first time she was introduced when looking for water in the ground while her beliefs in science were questioned. From there, she takes us on an in-depth lesson on the history of dowsing and how people were persecuted for practicing such in the past. Nevertheless, it was the lessons on the dowsing tools for communication, like the Ouija board, the Y-rod, and the pendulum, and their variations that intrigued me the most. It was mind-blowing to see that it is possible to communicate with the Earth and different beings and manipulate energies.
While the author understands that some things cannot be explained by science and are just mysterious, she still makes solid attempts to carry out experiments to determine who is responsible for the movements of her dowsing tools and find out what is what. This is where we find the most revealing aspects of the book, and she goes further to provide stepwise approaches to creating our own personalized tools and the kind of questions that will effectively aid in communicating with supernatural beings.
A few pictures are also included to bring life to the author's personal experiences and also to help readers follow her instructions to the letter. I especially found these pictures helpful in setting up and using the Y-rod. Furthermore, the book is a concise read at eighty-five pages in length, and Mary Ellen Wall's lessons are easy to understand.
The only aspect of the book that requires massive improvement is editing. The number of errors revolving around missing words, punctuation errors, and hyphenation errors created a lot of distractions. "Now I hold the chain a very short so the weight twirls his signature." - Page 40. You can imagine how difficult it was consistently reading through sentences like the one above. Therefore, I will have to settle for rating Conversing with Various Entities: An Invitation to Open Your Mind to Wonder three out of four stars. Open-minded readers interested in communicating with supernatural entities will find this book intriguing.
