Splitting up without falling to pieces by Jan Kaa Kristensen, a clinical psychologist offers constructive advice about dealing with the ups and downs revolving around a divorce. Based on research to help adults and children through the trials and tribulations of co-parenting. Helps with the struggles that can be faced in resulting in an unfriendly environment for everyone involved.

The book has ten chapters that gives knowledgeable advice on how to carry your role on the things happening in your life. The first half of the book explains the expectations and reality of a divorce, accepting the things cannot change, bettering your situation and learning to compromise concerning the new path you have taken. The last half explains the different situations and how individuals react differently in certain circumstances. The support team surrounding you and the children. To be able to find solutions and communicate.

The main idea the author gets across is to put the well being of the children first when resolving issues. The author writes about actual events that took place, did his research and got opinions from other people who deals with such cases. He made everything in the book relatable from real life experiences.

I like the differences in all the situations, about how you can find solutions in overcoming all the challenges you face during the divorce. That focusing on yourself and having a good support structure is important to having a clear mind between right and wrong. I also like how the author explains all the different types of people there that will give critical help were every situation is concerned.

I like that there is no blame being put on anybody and that there is no judgment for struggling and seeking help. There were constructive questions at the end of each chapter that will help you re-evaluate and think about things and how your choices are affecting those around you. The author made the book understandable and straightforward. I found everything about the book insightful, so for those reasons I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend this book for divorcees or for those currently going through a separation or thinking about it, especially where kids are concerned. I couldn’t find anything I disliked about the book and found no errors, I found it all very helpful and rewarding to read
