Review of Selling with Presence
The business world has undergone a huge transformation that has given buyers the access to a sea of knowledge especially on product dynamics. Selling with Presence by Reggie Pearse gives sales professionals an up-skill on how to connect with buyers in a very unique way as a leverage to close more deals in the present and in the future.
Through seven detailed chapters, Reggie has given invaluable insight into how the traditional sales process can be integrated with presence to produce an all-around sales professional. The book has explored the various spheres of presence including the traits of a person with great presence, obstacles to great presence, ways of improving one's presence, meeting management, personal branding and use of social media to influence presence. An emphasis on buyer and seller interaction in different situations is given through the various chapters of the book.
I really loved the fact that Selling with Presence has been written in such a simple and concise language that communicates to an aspiring salesperson and the sales professionals out there. In addition to that, Reggie has backed his propositions with scientific evidence that justifies the truth in his ideas. The book has gone beyond giving solid facts and theories by telling true stories of how presence has worked for sales professionals during their interactions with every type of buyer. These stories are a true testament to the vast wisdom Reggie has accumulated due to many years of experience working in sales. There are exercises designed to improve sales presence giving the reader a more practical approach when learning. I would label the meeting management segment as my favourite due to its resonance with many spheres of life apart from business. I believe the book remains relevant today and in the future and that gives it an edge over traditional books on improving sales. A healthy dose of business-related analogies used in the book makes the ideas presented a lot easier to understand. The book is excellently edited.
I must admit that various concepts of the book have been repeated in an overwhelming manner. It thus becomes boring to read through the body of the book since the information becomes monotonous and tires the mind. It should however not stop the reader from enjoying this book.
Honestly, I have learnt a lot from Selling with Presence and believe it is such a good book. I would hence give it a rating of four out of four stars. The book has earned itself a perfect rating as a true reflection of what it has taught me. I would recommend this book to sales executives, sales representatives and marketing managers.
