Review of Unchecked capitalism is killing us!
The book, Unchecked capitalism is killing us! by Earl Rynerson is an expression of opinion by a concerned American Citizen. It is a wake up call from the author who has deeply analysed the state of affairs and has presented his case with an in depth review of industry-wise performance over the last few decades. In this wake-up call, the author has highlighted the role of corporate interference in the administration to their benefit unfavourably affecting the interests of the general public. He has discussed this in depth, substantiating his observations with statistical evidence wherever required, as to how corporate lobbying has influenced the Government's policies in their favour at the cost of public interest. He has particularly discussed issues which are currently affecting the public and the economy such as unemployment due to outsourcing of jobs outside the country in order to increase the financial results of the corporates at the cost of public welfare.
I like this book for the critical analysis of the performance of leading organisations in various industries such as, Technology, Food Processing, Defence, Oil and Gas, Automobiles, Pharmaceutical, Beverages, Healthcare etc. The critical analysis reflects the sincerity of the author’s intention to bring the facts on the state of affairs to the public attention. He has categorically emphasised that the well being of each citizen depends on their being actively aware of the state of affairs. Having discussed the problem in depth, he proceeds to furnish solutions to address the issues. He starts with describing the role of each citizen individually and collectively to be alert and active in keeping in check, the Government Policies which are not in public interest by changing his or her own lifestyle if need be.
I have rated the book with four out of four stars since I did not find any grammatical or any other error. The flow of contents is smooth and the author is eloquent in his style of presenting the matter. The manner of presentation is also interesting and ensures retaining the reader's attention by discussing live and current issues. The author has presented his views in simple language which can be easily understood by anyone, even without much of economic or financial subject background. His initial introduction of the subject with the example of boiling the frog, is the essence of this wake-up call, as he highlights how the general public are made victims even without their being aware of it.
I would recommend this book to all those who have attained or nearing the voting age, so that they can take responsible decisions at the time of selecting their administrators and also remain vigilant when they come across changes in government policies and also at the time of announcement of new policies by the government, in order to ensure that their interests as well as that of the future generations are not adversely affected.
