Review of Stubborn children
Stubborn Children is a non-fiction book written by Norio Ando. The book was written to provide helpful information to those with children that have stubborn characters, at an affordable rate.
Kiyoshi is a boy of four years old who was stubborn and always liked to do things in his way, not mindful of others will or instructions. He always insists on doing things the way he wants, even if his parents coaxed him to do other things. He was a strong-willed child, and his parents had given up on changing his mind. They decided to go for a child care consultation at the health centre in the district. They found out that the only way they could help their child is by relaxed pleasure. What is relaxed pleasure? How can relaxed pleasure help a stubborn child? How does one carry out relaxed pleasure?
Temperament and personality bring about stubbornness. A stubborn child has a rigid mind. They cannot easily change their once decided ideas and plans, even if the situation changed. This book shows how children with stubborn characters become flexible and sociable through experiencing relaxed pleasure. It also shows how relaxed pleasure can be applied to different variety of children.
The book was written in simple language to make the readers understand how relaxed pleasure is carried out and can also carry it out when necessary. He also provided illustrations of the various postures or actions needed in carrying out this relaxed pleasure. This made me not just imagine his methods, but could also see the illustration and understand how to carry out those of the steps listed. He also provided various stories of stubborn children that he had applied the method on and the outcome. This serves as testimonials indicating that relaxed pleasure can bring about positive results if used the right way. The author also presented the idea of three emotions and explained it in a way that is easier to understand. He even used it to classify children into various Autistic conditions base on the degree of each emotion. He also stated precisely how to apply the relaxed pleasure to each age group of children and added the illustration of how it is to be applied. All these made me enjoyed the book.
I found no fault in this book, and it was also professionally edited with no errors noticed. Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I will recommend this book to children psychologists and parents who are struggling with controlling their stubborn children.
