Review of Hiding in Plain Sight:
Hiding in Plain Sight: My Life and Adventures Protecting Celebrities by Thomas LeBrun is an autobiography. The author recounts his life through funny anecdotes, professional and private stories, and inspiring messages. From early childhood, school years, first jobs, training, finding a career, and marriage, we get an insight into the author’s life. It is also a motivational self-help book about a man with a passion, manifestation, and achievement of his childhood dream of becoming a Superman. He accomplished that by becoming a successful Professional Protection Specialist. Some of his impressive clients’ names are Whitney Houston, New Kids on the Block, Elton John, Backstreet Boys, Bill Gates, Tony Robbins, Justin Bieber, to name a few.
What I admire the most about Thomas LeBrun is his integrity. It is transparent in the way how he speaks about his famous clients. This story is not about the rich and famous. He talks about these people with respect and humility, treating them as human beings. His professionalism and the way he approaches each assignment are admirable things about him. A reader can get a clear picture of what it takes to work for a high-profile client.
The author shares a plethora of photographs that go along with his journey. It is a book that takes you on a road trip around the world. The vivid descriptions of cities like Cape Town, Mexico City, and Rio de Janeiro are thrilling and enlightening. This book contains multiple notes and letters from his colleagues and friends. They complete the reader’s perception of the story and the author.
Whether I was reading passages of Tom as a father on Tom’s kids’ sports events or the chapters where Tom is providing security for big entertainment names, it impressed me. Thomas LeBrun has had determination since he was a little boy. Even injuries couldn’t stop him from getting better or keeping with his training. The author’s courage and persistence can undoubtedly motivate a reader. That is my favorite part of this book and the outcome of this reading experience.
This book will appeal to readers interested in martial arts. Furthermore, I would recommend this book to all readers curious about the life of a security specialist. If you want to get the front-row seat of what it takes to train each day and seek new challenges, this is a book for you.
I noticed five errors, out of which four errors were missing punctuation and quotation marks. Nevertheless, I believe this book is professionally edited. There is nothing I disliked about it, and I wouldn’t change or improve anything. Besides, the reading experience was positive, entertaining, and inspirational. I can’t rate this book with anything less than a perfect score of four out of four stars.
