Review of Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (Japanese Edition)
Idioms are expressions that take
on a figurative meaning when certain words are combined. The use of idioms spices up our spoken English. This is why they are commonly used by native English speakers either to show off their proficiency, or as a way of communicating complex ideas in a simpler way. Because of these vital qualities of idioms, learners of English language need to be sound in the usage in order to have an upper hand in understanding the reading and listening aspects of English language.
In the book, Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (Japanese Edition) by Peter Liptak, various common idioms are clearly explained and comprehensively analysed with sentence examples, passage readings, comprehension questions, and other technical exercises to help readers efficiently and effectively master the English idioms in a faster pace.
This book is a collective effort of three English educators—Peter, Matthew and Jay. And it contains content written in Japanese language—actually, the interpretation of the English texts into Japanese language.
The book is really educative towards helping English students and other categories of English learners in mastering the literary usage of idioms. The structure and arrangement of the book's content show the authors' competency to write on the topic. Indeed, I've come to learn many idioms as well, and I'll love revisiting the book severally so that I can master them in the long run. As the book comes with two languages—English language and Japanese, there would be a wide range of audiences worldwide the book would be accessible for. I also love the fact that there is no unnecessary content, as the teaching is straight to the point, and this enables faster read.
I'll give Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (Japanese Edition) by Peter Liptak a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. This is because it was professionally edited in addition to its commendable presentation of the subject matter (i.e. idioms).
This book will serve as a good text book for in-class learning, such that English students can learn and master English idioms in an efficient and effective way; thus helping them master the reading and listening aspects of English language. Therefore, I'll like to recommend the book to all English students worldwide. In addition, the book would be beneficial to other English speakers, who rather speak English as their second language, because the knowledge of idioms and their usage would familiarize them with the culture and tone of the native English speakers. Hence, to every learners of English language, who are not the native English speakers, I also recommend this book.
