Review of Creating Literary Stories: A Fiction Writer's Guide
[Following is a volunteer review of "Creating Literary Stories: A Fiction Writer's Guide" by William H. Coles.]
Creating Literary Stories: A Fiction Writer’s Guide by William H. Coles is a book that educate writers on the fundamental components required in writing creative fictional stories. The literary fictional story, as it has evolved over time, differs from genre fiction, memoir, nonfiction, autobiography, and creative nonfiction.The essential elements of writing literary fictional stories as exposed in this book are the characters, narration, dialogue, literary conflict, humor, Point of view(POV), Revision, and so on. A thorough comprehension of all of them will help the writer improve his or her story.
The author enlighten writers to ensure that their characters are unique, credible, possessing at least a touch of the heroic, and capable of changing people and events. They must be capable of change within themselves, as well, and have a recognizable sense of humor too so as to help the readers connect with the characters and enjoy the story.
William H. Coles is a multi-award winning author. I like the fact that he is an award winning author writing this informational piece to help upcoming writers or writers who have been in the field. On that note, you can put your faith in the writer's credibility because he has worked in his field for a long time and has excelled in it.
William H. Cole, the author of this book, has done a really good job. The book was thoroughly edited. The cover page design is beautiful. The book is well-organized and structured. The author explain some elements with examples for easier comprehension. He writes a brief summary at the end of some chapter which is commendable too.
There is nothing about the book that I don’t like. It is really an educational book for all writers especially fiction writers.
I give this book 4 out of 4 stars since it offers a useful informational guide for writers which will improve their writing career especially in the field of fictional stories.
I recommend this book to upcoming writers and even professionals writers especially those that have interest in writing fictional stories so as to have a better understanding on how to write their stories in order to be outstanding in their writing career and create a memorable and wonderful experience for the reader. Who knows, their stories could even become one of the award winning book someday like that of William H. Coles.
