Review of Eggstravagant Easter Eggs
[Following is a volunteer review of "Eggstravagant Easter Eggs" by Maya Elston.]
Eggstravagant Easter Eggs by Maya Elston is a creative guidebook into the decoration of Easter eggs for Easter celebrations. The book provides a wide range of tips and methods one can use in using eggs as decoration for the festive holiday. The author not only provides an easy step-by-step guide into the preparation of the eggs and the variety of different eggs one can use but lays out different decorating methods one can use in its decoration. The author also provides first-hand experience and examples from her own Easter egg collection to show how she made them and how one can use similar methods to create a similar pattern or design for their own Easter eggs. The book is a creative guide to Easter and prompts excitability around the holiday that is celebrated around the world.
The author provides insightful, knowledgeable, and useful tips into the craft of making Easter eggs. Providing first-hand feedback from her various attempts and experimentation with different materials, patterns, and sketches. She provides various methods and suggests different materials one can use. Using examples of her own wide selection of Easter Eggs to further illustrate how one can go about creating these Eggs and using popular themes from across the world to show the diversity of ideas that one can apply to their Easter Egg decorations. She provides a helpful guide that beginners can follow while also encouraging the reader to make their own designs, patterns, and ideas. Furthermore, providing space for personal creativity to flourish as they are encouraged to not only make these Easter Eggs but in doing so make them personal and cater them to their own tastes.
The book was professionally edited and held no visible mistakes. The layout was expertly carried out and made it an easy read to follow. The insightful knowledge of the craft and first-hand experience showed that the book had been well researched and the author well-versed in the making of these Easter Eggs. Personally, I would have preferred that a bullet point format was used for the step-by-step processes than the given paragraph form. I feel that giving it a bullet form structure for these parts where the author guides the reader through the process, would have made it easier to follow and help keep track as to where one was while following along. However, when it came to the background information or personal tips the author gives, paragraphs worked well.
Its overall quality makes me give this book 4 out of 4 stars. It’s exceptionally well-written and informative. I found it interesting and creatively stimulating. The book left me wanting to try out some of these designs and create egg decorations for Easter. I think it is a very clever and fun craft to do with the family. It is inclusive and draws on many different patterns from all across the world, which keeps it engaging and explorative. As a craft book, it does exceptionally well from its clear explanations to its useful tips and a wide variety of ideas, methods, and materials the audience can use to create these ”Eggstravagant Easter Eggs”.
I would recommend Eggstravagant Easter Eggs by Maya Elston to anyone interested in holiday decorations or DIY projects or simply just for people looking for fun new craft ideas to get their creative juices flowing. This is a perfect guide into the world of Easter egg decorations and can be a fun activity for people of all ages.
