Without strategy, execution is a aimless, without execution strategy is aimless.

Potter and Kavanagh's, "The successful manager", is a commendable source to have insights about everything a manager needs to know.Because factually,it is really tough to manage a team,to lead a team,to gain confidence in the team.

The book captured every facts and sights really very beautifully.
Right from talking about why become a top-tier manager, characteristics of great managers, goals and expectations of a team, managing a team, managing it through crisis and much more, author has tried to show how to deal with things in an easy way,and with a practical approach.
The book answers all the questions one faces, when appointed as a manager.
It clearly shows, how a leader builds not just him,but his whole team.It shows how to build and lead.In short it is "how to be a successful manager 2.0".

The most positive aspect about the book,is its aptness and the honesty with which it is written,it has no fakeness, just the raw experiences with facts.Without making it dull and lengthy, with certitude and explanation, this book is not at all boring, and one really enjoys it while reading. The author has started the book by, how nervous he was when he was appointed as a manager. While reading the book,at a point it felt like reading his journey from a rookie manager to a senior managing director.Due to his own start experience, the book felts so relatable and not just bluff. The golden principles given in the book, makes you a leader in every aspect. It makes you realise the weightage of your position as a manager and the responsibilities one faces with it.The tone of the book is really inviting and intriguing. The way the ideas has been presented and the graphics used throughout the book is really praiseworthy. The narrative style of the book is very approachable.Lucid langauge has been used throughout the book, which makes it an easy read.I have read quite a few books about management but this is a total bliss.

The cover could have been better and makes less justice with the whole book, which is a little disappointment,other-wise it was a true fascinating read.

Would give it a five star rating, because it really changed my perspective. Before reading it,I believed managing a team is just about giving orders. Now I know how a real manager works, what challenges he faces and how difficult it is to build a team and be a real leader.

The book is totally for all the aspiring managers out there. It clears all the doubts of a new manager,or a would be manager.I would recommend this to everyone who has some interest in management and leadership,no matter you have immense experience or you are just a beginner,it will surely benefit you.
