Review of The Success Frames
I believe success is an ambiguous term. If you were to give out a questionnaire to several people with different personalities, social statuses, and cultural backgrounds, you'll find out that almost everyone has a different perspective on what success means.
The Success Frames by Akomolede Oladapo Amos is one book that gives an account of what the Christian view of success is and how the outbreak of Covid-19 has affected the general view of success.
The book starts with the measure of success. It explains how people measure success in a worldly manner, instead of a Godly way. It then moves on to explain how the Covid-19 pandemic affected several sectors including the church. The pandemic also shattered the way people measured success. Suddenly, things people considered very important became less important, and some things people considered unimportant became very important. The book also gives an account of things that affects the success of man both negatively and positively. Several important topics are then discussed. Grab a copy of this book to find out the role of God and man in the success of any man.
This book was very educative, I learned a lot from it. I love the way the author backs up his statements with stories from the Bible. He also likens his explanations to normal scenarios. The book is like a roadmap to achieving true success. And, all you have to do is just understand it and follow the directions. Even before the Covid-19 pandemic, some events had affected my perspective on success and given me a biased view. It was when I read this book I was truly able to understand some things. A part of the book that I enjoyed was the learning process for success. It shows that success isn't magical or something that happens overnight by chance. It is something that is learned and there are steps needed to be taken in other to truly achieve it.
The only thing I found flawed in this book was the idea that God uses interruptions to steer us back in the right direction or bend us to become more like Christ. I've heard people say similar things whenever there's a problem or someone dies. In as much as God loves us and will do anything in his power to do what's best for us, he can't use inconveniences to achieve it. He has given us the word of God and the Holy Spirit to steer us in the right direction, the only thing left is for us to embrace them. Nevertheless, the author gave explanations and Bible verses to support his idea. So, I believe it's a matter of perception and the idea can still be subjected to further debate.
The book was professionally and exceptionally edited. I found no grammatical errors, the book was structured properly and the language used was simple. The aim of the book was achieved as the author was able to use strong points which were well-arranged for easy understanding. I'm therefore rating this book 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to Christians and people willing to have an understanding of what success truly is.
