Review of 7 Step to Raising Amazing Children
"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." - Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV).
The quote gives an in-depth insight into the central theme of the highly relevant guide that is Charles Smith's 7 Steps to Raising Amazing Children. As we all know, children are very special and need proper guidance to grow into the best version of themselves, and as parents, that responsibility falls on our shoulders. However, it can be a difficult and overwhelming task to undertake, and ironically, we may even find ourselves needing guidance. Charles Smith reiterates that the first and most important step in raising children is knowing and choosing your influence, which should be God. He goes on to explain this in detail and discusses six other steps in this book.
The subject addressed here is something that I have seen a lot of people struggle with, and they will find it easy to relate to the messages passed here. The author takes us through the seven steps of properly raising children while showing us detailed applications of these steps in how he raised his four daughters and acknowledging his mother's influence on him as a parent. His experience with raising his children to become amazing adults makes him an authority in this field, and I felt comfortable reading while he walked me through the vital lessons he picked up and applied in raising them.
The author is by no means perfect at parenting, and I liked that he shows the different struggles that come with dealing with children, especially when they get to a point where they feel they know it all. Nevertheless, even in his household, the author reiterates the importance of drawing your children close to God as the foundation for success, and I couldn't agree more. He also introduces other values that will not only help parents with raising their children but can also be applied in different aspects of life generally, including respecting your children, teaching them to respect you and themselves, being patient with them, and how to develop and strengthen bonds by employing different activities. While you may have gotten similar advice from other sources, the difference here is in how the author applies his lessons from the foundation.
Furthermore, reader participation is encouraged, as each chapter closes with a short workbook where readers can engage in taking notes of key takeaways, noting where to apply these takeaways in their personal lives, and documenting prayers to help them. I found just two errors in the book. Therefore, it is professionally edited.
Overall, 7 Steps to Raising Amazing Children is an informative guide that will not only help readers in training their children but will also impact the way they live their lives. I cannot think of anything I dislike about this book. Therefore, I rate this book four out of four stars. This guide will benefit parents exactly how the book title describes that it will, and I would highly recommend it to them.
