Review of Exploring Wine Regions – Bordeaux France
Prepare to be taken to a special magical place, a world of huge castles on expansive properties and century-old trees, intriguing history, century-old vines, hidden cellars, and secret passageways, and of course, wine! Exploring Wine Regions – Bordeaux France by Michael C. Higgins, Ph.D is a fascinating read.
With beautifully told historical stories this book entraps you into the world of different regions of Bordeaux described by Michael C. Higgins. as A ‘Mini’ Paris with a young and energetic vibe where the locals speak English. This book visits the Medoc, Graves, and all the other regions of Bordeaux.
The pictures all taken by Michael C. Higgins are exquisite. The author is also a professional photographer and has a love for photography just as much as he does wine. This really shows with the quality of the photos.
This book really surprised me when I found it to have so many detailed restaurants, hotels, and B&B reviews. I really didn’t expect a complete travel guide to the area. I actually thought this was going to be a regular basic book on the different types of wine produced in Bordeaux. Well was I mistaken! Michael C. Higgins gives you so much more from the history of the terroir, the history of the original owners of beautiful chateaux, and the story of how they came to be as they are now. This book is an absolute must-have to anyone planning a trip to Bordeaux!
There is absolutely nothing that I disliked about this book. Even if you’re not a wine expert and you are not planning a trip to Bordeaux any time soon this book is an interesting and entertaining read. Personally, I now feel like a wine expert for having read this book. (Spoiler: I am not.) So having said that if you would like to be able to impress your cultured friends at dinner parties with your extensive wine knowledge I would recommend reading this book or at the very least purchase it as a pretty coffee table display book to entice your house guests to flick through the wonderful pictures and read a page every now and then. I can see it as a wonderful conversation starter.
Overall a true delight to read. The editing was very good with only a very few minor mistakes. I, therefore, rate Exploring Wine Regions – Bordeaux France 4 out of 4 stars. I would be keen to read the additional chapters that were not included in this book, but that is offered for free if you were to email the author.

Agreed. The pictures in this book were amazing! I wish that I was so skilled in photography.Kira Bonita Reece wrote: ↑15 Nov 2021, 05:10 I love the photos that Michael takes. He has a keen eye and the photos tell their own story of the wine region. I had the pleasure of reading this book and it was amazing. Your review does the book justice
