Knocking on Heaven's Door: A Path to a Better Way of Death.

Post by klomen16 »

This book is a memoir about how a daughter lost her father and the strain it put on her mother for being his full-time caregiver. The book starts off about how her mom asks her to help her get her father's pacemaker turned off. Then she starts from the beginning and talks about the process he went through after he had a stroke and slowly declined. She incorporates a lot of history about things that revolutionized the medical field and how it got to today. She talks a lot about how doctors are more concerned with prolonging life instead of considering what that quality of life would really be. She talks about the Good Death, where you die with your family around you and getting to say last words. This book really touched me.
