Idiom Attack Vol.1 Everyday Living(French Edition) provides us with a great collection of various common idioms which can be used in our day-to-day conversation. This book is a great work from the collaboration of Peter N. Liptak, Mathew Douma, Jay Douma, and the translator Marie-Odile Kippen.

There are a total of 25 themed chapters covering as many as 300+ idioms, which are commonly used by American or native English speakers. The idioms are related to Moments in time, Weather Conditions, Special Dates and Events, Dining, Making Conversation, Telephone Talk, Dating and Relationships, etc. In each chapter, the usage of idioms in a sentence and their meaning both in English and French is given. To not make the book boring, it is filled with nice illustrations expressing the literal meaning of idioms to make the readers engaged with the book. The book also contains synonyms for few idioms if any for a particular idiom providing more diverse knowledge. For few idioms, additional information was given which was helpful to have a more clear insight of the idioms. It was interesting to see that there are so many ways to express the same thing without repeating the same idiom.

The presentation of the book is very good. Not only it gives information about various day-to-day idioms but also helps to memorize them. After each chapter, there are fill-in blanks that are required to get occupied with appropriate idioms. Then there is a story at the end of each chapter using all the idioms given in the chapter and few questions related to it. Solving questions based on the story and grasping from the story that how the idioms can be utilized in our day-to-day conversations helps to remember it even more efficiently. And last but not least for better navigation, there is the index in the last few pages which is very handy to get back to any idiom.

Since this book is beginner's level so people who are looking for some advance material may not be satisfied with the book but still can review their basic knowledge.

The Idiom Attack Vol.1 Everyday Living(French Edition) is a well-edited book without any grammatical errors and typos. Considering all the above points I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. To make the most out of this book requires little effort from the reader too. I highly recommend this book to non-native English speakers who are beginners and self-learning this language. It can also be helpful to professionals who want to give their students a better instructional guide. Since this book is both in English and French, it will be helpful for both, one who knows little English and one who doesn't know English but knows French.
