Butterfly Awakens tells the story of Meg Nocero and her heart-wrenching yet beautiful spiritual journey after the loss of her strongest pillar, her mother. The story mentions how Meg and her mother bonded over Meg's problemsat school. Ever since then, her mother became her strongest ally. Growing up, despite all the hurdles she faced, Meg became a federal immigration prosecutor. It was during one of her court sessions when her mother called and informed Meg that she had breast cancer. Meg, shocked and afraid of the oncoming days, rushed to her mother's side to help alleviate the pain.

Meg and her family try everything, hoping to save her mother's life. Yet they fail and her mother passes away. After her mother's death, Meg tries to heal and move on, only to find it harder to do so as days pass. Her supervisor does not help with the matter as well, her working environment only creates more problems as she faces sexism and an unappreciative boss. Her conditions only worsen with her own health problems and soon, she's facing the threat of losing her husband.

The book speaks of the transformation of Meg Nocero through grief and loss. It is split into three parts: before the cocoon, in the dark, flying with freedom. Meg Nocero has written a book of healing and self-love. Each chapter starts with an innovative quote, some contain her own works of poetry and even more refer to great music and terms. Meg was driven into a corner by both her private and profession lives, yet she overcame all the obstacles, becoming an excellent role model.

As mentioned above, there are three parts to her journey of healing. The first focuses on her fear of losing her mother while the second points to her healing and the most important part of her transformation. The third talks of her freedom, finding herself amidst the shadows of doubt and darkness. The people mentioned throughout the book are either healers, guides or supportive friends. As Meg writes of her interactions with each individual and how much her life has changed, she gives hope to anyone who's lost someone in recent years.

This book will surely help many others during their darkest times. It enlightens people and helps them look forward to finding their own spiritual path. I found a few mistakes as I read but it did not hinder the reading experience. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I hope that anyone with a heavy heart and in need of some guidance can read the book as it might be very helpful.
