Review of Exploring Wine Regions – Bordeaux France
Exploring Wine Region - Bordeaux France is a book written by a well-travelled person, the author, Michael C. Higgins. This book is loaded with fun and exhilarating experiences from wine discovery, wine tasting, winemaking, food, to castles and French way of life. The author, Michael C. Higgins introduces readers through his book to the rich historical and medieval city of Bordeaux, which is located in France. Michael C. Higgins gives firsthand experience of his travels with lots of beautiful experiences ranging from culinary, beautiful and interesting places in Bordeaux like the Bordeaux City Center, Medoc Wine Regions, The Medoc Atlantique, Graves Wine Regions and Libournais Wine Regions, with its culture and historic events. Bordeaux is described by the author as “A City Alive with Food, Wine, Culture, History and friendship”.
Bordeaux city is where the Bordeaux wine originates from. And apart from all the wonderful details about Bordeaux, this book also serves as a guide for tourist. Through the description of this magical city by the author, I have travelled in my mind’s eyes to Bordeaux and have visited all the interesting places mentioned in the book. The insert images in the book along with the story is the highlight of excitement as the reader gets to see and not only read about the author’s rich Bordeaux experiences with its rich culture, beautiful chateaus, vibrant castles, the making of wine barrels and the wines itself. We got to know about the interesting story and history behind the Grand Cru Classés of 1855 which after 150 years later has become the most sought after and most expensive wines in the world.
This book teaches one the basic of winemaking which adds to the historic events that makes up Bordeaux. I was marveled to know that the world grows Bordeaux grapes and not the other way round. And while reading this book, I was really enjoying the different locations and fantastic scenery which became more vivid in my imagination as the book/guide is accompanied with exotic images of the mentioned locations. I was in awe that this vibrant place I was reading about is actually in existence ; that is what this book would make you feel while scrolling through the pages and marveling at each unique and awesomeness of Bordeaux city.
I do not have any negative comment for this book as it is professionally and exceptionally written with no form of error. So I will give this book 4 out of 4 stars.
I will recommend this book to people that loves adventures, history and travelling.
