Creating Literary Stories: A Fiction Writer's Guide by William H. Coles is a book that talks about the guidelines to writing a fictional literary story. This book is a fiction writer's guide to effectively construct and develop a fiction story.

This book which is divided into two sections clearly distinguishes between the different genres of books. The book highlighted that the most important step to writing a good literary story is the ability to differentiate between the different genres of books. With emphasis on literary story, the book explained the features of a good book. These features which include dramatic plot, characterization, imagination, structure and theme all play an important role in the development of any book irrespective of the genre.

What I loved most about this book was the wealth of knowledge that is embedded in this book. He did a good job in covering everything related to book writing from plot development, characterization and complexity of characters and also suspense development and maintenance.

I particularly love the book was the attention and details he paid to some aspects of the book such as the way he differentiated the different genres of literature that even a person who had never been in a literature class can understand, differentiate and effectively write a story on any of the genres.

The part I enjoyed the most in this book was the section two of the book which had the basic rules for dialogues and ideas for improvement of dialogue as well as the principles and guidelines for characterization.

Through this book I have learnt how to develop a character in my story as well as how to develop the plot of my story so that the story will not be easily predicted. I have also learnt how to build suspense and also maintain it effectively. All I have learnt from this book I hope to put into practice.

There was nothing I disliked most about this book. Everything about it was educative and entertaining. The author did a very good job to include short stories to relieve the tension in the book as the book progressed. One of such stories was Little Red Riding Hood, this story is a very common story but the way the author recreated the story to be both a thriller and an adventurous book will definitely awe the reader.

The book was well edited as the only mistake I noticed was the use of comma which can be the writers style of writing. I give this book 4 stars out of 4 stars because of it's educating, entertaining and captivating nature. I recommend it to aspiring or already-made fictional writers and to literature students in general.
