Grab your crampons and be ready to be taken on a mountain climbing journey in this exceptional book, The Altitude Journals, by David J. Mauro.

The book introduced readers to a strong and brave man, named Dave who did the unexpected. His mother raised him because his father disappeared. Growing up, he did not find anything he could do to fit in. He tried various things, but nothing seemed to work. He had a lovely brother, Danny, who was almost the opposite of Dave growing up. He finished school, went to college, graduated, married, and had two sons, Chase and Trevor. However, his life turned into something he did not plan; he became lonely and alone. He then started climbing mountains. During his climbing, he experienced many challenges physically and emotionally. Climbing also helped him in an aspect of his life. People were worried about him, and some thought he was losing it when he started his mission. Did he accomplish this mission? Read The Altitude Journals to get the answers you need.

The storyline of the book was flowing, and events followed each other in a good manner. The main character was very brave and had perseverance. I liked it when Dave did research and trained before going for the climb. Also, Dave was unstoppable, and he followed his guts. I liked it when he helped Carol when she was struggling during the climbing.

The book had few pictures that were proof of the things the writer wrote in the book. One of the scenes that I liked was when Dave reached one of the summits, and it was amazing to me as a reader because I was nervous. I thought he could not make it. My other favorite character was Lin. She was loving and caring towards Dave. She was, in some ways, teaching wives and girlfriends how to love and care for their loved ones. I admired Lin's love for Dave; it was unconditional, supportive, full of fun, and pure.

There is nothing I dislike in the book. The book was well edited, as I only observed one error in it. I rate The Altitude Journals four stars out of four stars. I recommend the book to readers who love to explore nature, who are adventurous, climbers, and people who like to travel worldwide. If your guts tell you to do something, do it. Follow your dreams and vision. It is never too late to find purpose.
