Are‌ ‌you‌ ‌curious‌ ‌about‌ ‌Islam,‌ ‌Muslims,‌ ‌and‌ ‌their‌ ‌lifestyles?‌ ‌Do‌ ‌you‌ ‌wonder‌ ‌why‌ ‌some‌ ‌Muslim‌ ‌women‌ ‌are‌ ‌constantly‌ ‌garbed‌ ‌in‌ ‌niqabs‌ ‌and‌ ‌hijabs‌ ‌while‌ ‌the‌ ‌men‌ ‌dress‌ ‌as‌ ‌they‌ ‌please?‌ ‌Or‌ ‌what‌ ‌the‌ ‌Quran‌ ‌says‌ ‌about‌ ‌women's‌ ‌rights?‌ ‌If‌ ‌you‌ ‌want‌ ‌answers‌ ‌to‌ ‌these‌ ‌questions‌ ‌and‌ ‌more,‌ ‌grab‌ ‌a‌ ‌copy‌ ‌of‌ ‌Farooq‌ ‌Mirza‌ ‌MD's‌ ‌Introduction‌ ‌to‌ ‌Islam for Non-Muslims.‌ ‌

Using‌ ‌a‌ ‌straightforward‌ ‌writing‌ ‌style‌ ‌and‌ ‌eloquent‌ ‌language,‌ ‌Farooq‌ ‌explains‌ ‌the‌ ‌origin‌ ‌of‌ ‌Islam,‌ ‌the‌ ‌pillars‌ ‌of‌ ‌Islam,‌ ‌the‌ ‌Islamic‌ ‌way‌ ‌of‌ ‌life,‌ ‌the‌ ‌Quran's‌ ‌stance‌ ‌on‌ ‌various‌ ‌subjects,‌ ‌and‌ ‌common‌ ‌misconceptions‌ ‌about,‌ ‌arguably,‌ ‌the‌ ‌most‌ ‌controversial‌ ‌and‌ ‌misunderstood‌ ‌religion‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌world.‌ ‌ ‌

The‌ ‌book's‌ ‌structure‌ ‌made‌ ‌it‌ ‌easy‌ ‌to‌ ‌get‌ ‌through.‌ ‌The‌ ‌author‌ ‌cites‌ ‌Quranic‌ ‌verses‌ ‌to‌ ‌bolster‌ ‌his‌ ‌views.‌ ‌And he‌ ‌does‌ ‌well‌ ‌to‌ ‌write‌ ‌the‌ ‌Quranic‌ ‌verses‌ ‌in‌ ‌bold‌ ‌fonts‌ ‌while‌ ‌his‌ ‌thoughts‌ ‌are‌ ‌written‌ ‌in‌ ‌plain‌ ‌text,‌ ‌which‌ ‌made ‌it‌ ‌easy‌ ‌for‌ ‌me‌ ‌to‌ ‌tell‌ ‌when‌ ‌I'm‌ ‌reading‌ ‌a‌ ‌Quranic‌ ‌quotation‌ ‌or‌ ‌the‌ ‌author's‌ ‌opinion.‌ ‌ ‌

As‌ ‌a‌ ‌Christian‌ ‌living‌ ‌in‌ ‌a‌ ‌country‌ ‌with‌ ‌a‌ ‌vast‌ ‌Muslim‌ ‌population,‌ ‌I‌ ‌appreciate‌ ‌the‌ ‌work‌ ‌the‌ ‌author‌ ‌put‌ ‌into‌ ‌demystifying‌ ‌Islam‌ ‌and‌ ‌the‌ ‌Quran‌ ‌to‌ ‌non-Muslims.‌ ‌I‌ ‌had‌ ‌no‌ ‌idea‌ ‌the‌ ‌Bible‌ ‌and‌ ‌the‌ ‌Quran‌ ‌were‌ ‌congruent‌ ‌on‌ ‌so‌ ‌many‌ ‌subjects.‌ ‌In‌ ‌addition,‌ ‌the‌ ‌book‌ ‌gave‌ ‌me‌ ‌priceless‌ ‌insights‌ ‌into‌ ‌the‌ ‌behaviours‌ ‌of‌ ‌my‌ ‌Muslim‌ ‌compatriots.‌ ‌Most‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌questions‌ ‌I‌ ‌had‌ ‌about‌ ‌Islam‌ ‌were‌ ‌satisfactorily‌ ‌answered‌ ‌during‌ ‌‌ ‌my‌ ‌reading.‌ ‌ ‌

While‌ ‌the‌ ‌book‌ ‌gave‌ ‌me‌ ‌a‌ ‌heightened‌ ‌knowledge‌ ‌of‌ ‌Islam,‌ ‌I‌ ‌noticed‌ ‌some‌ ‌contradictions‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌author's‌ ‌message.‌ ‌He‌ ‌emphasizes‌ ‌that‌ ‌Islam‌ ‌is‌ ‌a‌ ‌religion‌ ‌of‌ ‌peace‌ ‌and‌ ‌free‌ ‌will.‌ ‌However,‌ ‌‌a‌ ‌passage‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌book‌ ‌‌ ‌mentions‌ ‌the‌ ‌defeat‌ ‌of‌ ‌Islamic‌ ‌fighters‌ ‌as‌ ‌the‌ ‌reason‌ ‌the‌ ‌victorious‌ ‌country‌ ‌isn't‌ ‌a‌ ‌Muslim‌ ‌country.‌ ‌I‌ ‌consider‌ ‌conversion‌ ‌by‌ ‌subjugation‌ ‌anything‌ ‌but‌ ‌free‌ ‌will.‌ ‌Again,‌ ‌the‌ ‌author‌ ‌made‌ ‌no‌ ‌attempt‌ ‌to‌ ‌veil‌ ‌his‌ ‌endorsement‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌limitation‌ ‌of‌ ‌press‌ ‌freedom‌ ‌and‌ ‌free‌ ‌speech.‌ ‌

After‌ ‌considering‌ ‌all‌ ‌aspects,‌ ‌I‌ ‌rate‌ ‌the‌ ‌book‌ ‌3‌ ‌out‌ ‌of‌ ‌4‌ ‌stars.‌ ‌The‌ ‌author‌ ‌achieved‌ ‌his‌ ‌aim;‌ ‌the‌ ‌book‌ ‌is‌ ‌extremely‌ ‌educational.‌ ‌However,‌ ‌I‌ ‌couldn't‌ ‌reconcile‌ ‌the‌ ‌aspects‌ ‌that‌ ‌bothered‌ ‌me‌ ‌with‌ ‌the‌ ‌overall‌ ‌message.‌ ‌Though the book appears to be professionally edited, still, I‌ ‌spotted‌ ‌some‌ ‌errors while reading it. ‌ ‌

I‌ ‌would‌ ‌recommend‌ ‌the‌ ‌book‌ ‌to‌ ‌anyone‌ ‌interested‌ ‌in‌ ‌understanding‌ ‌Islam‌ ‌and‌ ‌Muslims‌ ‌better.‌ ‌It‌ ‌doesn't‌ ‌contain‌ ‌any‌ ‌obscenities,‌ ‌so‌ ‌it's‌ ‌suitable‌ ‌for‌ ‌all‌ ‌ages.‌ ‌

These are the kind of books I have longed to read for the longest time especially since I have a lot of Muslim friends. "Sometimes all you need, to be able to tolerate an opposition, is to understand them better." one of my favorite quotes of all time. While I was originally stoked to read this, a lot of fears I had regarding the biases in religious talks were uncovered in this book so, while I cannot say for sure whether or not I will read this book, I must thank you for a very insightful review.

I am Muslim, and I seldom come across books like this. It's nice that the author could put together such an enlightening piece about the most controversial religion in the world. Thank you for your insightful review.

I would love to read this book to get new insight about Islam religion...I always wonder why Islam teaches about peace but at they end they practice violence. I hope this book will answer such question.

I am a Muslim. This book is amazing. 🌺❤️
It's so good it's really likeable. That was great. An admirable book. Learned a lot here. Accept what is good and reject what is bad.
