The Successful Manager by Practical Approaches for Building and Leading High-Performing Teams by James Potter AND Mike Kavanagh.

Sequels to the evolution of management principles and practice, humans have become keen on getting down to the nitty-gritty of management functions. It has been established that managers control the subservient and manipulate resources to achieve success, whereas leaders guide team members with the utmost influence, inspiration and motivational forces, to achieve the desired smart goals. Leadership is part of the whole management process. Its effectiveness depends greatly on the methods of the leader or manager for the planned operations to be prosperous.

The Successful Manager was written by the author’s intuitive dexterity to impart knowledge and improve managerial skills and functions. The book is primarily intended for potential managers and aspirants to top management positions. It contains a substantial conceit of the intricacies of authority and control with emphasis on their eccentricity in the management of human and material resources especially by priority, a delegation of duties and time management. It was focused on the challenges in the leadership of an organised labour crew such as unrest and possible crisis. The conceptual criterion is the management for the growth of an organisation by the efficacy of the managers and leaders. Readers will be enticed by the simplicity of the book which earned easily to read and appreciation, even if they’re not management experts.

The book is well crafted and for excellence with the basic proficiency of management tenets and exercise thoroughly dealt with. It’s well enunciated and readers friendly. Each chapter contains a well-detailed aspect of the managerial functions with clarity and excitement. I'm captivated by the appropriate expressions and the terminology applied definitely. The topic is well-narrated, and it’s coherent. The authors are seasoned by their experience in managerial principles and practices as exonerated in the book.

It’s amazing but not with the obvious English version of different nations. Readers should be wary of the English versions of nations to suitably discern the contents of the book otherwise some words in the text may be construed to be wrongly spelt if not consistently applied in the texts. I adore the compatible use of some words such as behavior, labor, endeavor to depict behaviour, labour, endeavour respectively and similar terms over the entire chapters of the book. However, It’s negligible as the English language is unique, diverse and of no hard-and-fast rules.

I admire the perfect editorial of the book. The narrative is fantastic, and I enjoyed reading it at every moment hence, I rate the book 4 stars out of 4.
It’s my pleasure recommending the book to students in managerial sciences, managers of human resources and those aspiring to top management positions in an organisation.
