As someone who is from a non-English speaking country, learning English can be proven to be challenging to a certain extent, and it is common to see many students study English from a young age yet fail to grasp the fundamentals of English. However, Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (Japanese Edition) by Peter N. Liptak provides an excellent bridge for crossing this problem. It may not fix the problem within English learning entirely, however it helps English learners to improve their knowledge through the idioms.

Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (Japanese Edition) is a book that consists of idioms for everyday living; from commonly used idioms to less common idioms. This book is also bilingual, as it is aimed at Japanese speakers who wish to learn English. With this information in mind, it provides a how-to-read guide in Japanese and practice questions for English learners to review and understand the usage of the idioms better.

This book is helpful for the readers as not only it contains idioms used in daily life, but there are also synonyms and notes to explain the usage of the idioms further. Moreover, the book is relatively easy to understand, thus it facilitates learning both idioms and English.

Unfortunately, this book contains a potentially offensive idiom, which is "Powwow." To use this term in contexts without any relation to Indigenous Americans can be considered offensive. While the chances of readers to put this idiom into practice are slim, the book should have been more careful as it may mislead English learners to use an offensive idiom.

Overall, this book deserves a 4 out of 4 rating for the positive values and excellent editing, since I find this book fulfills its purpose of teaching easy English through idioms and there are no errors that could be found within the book. I recommend this book to general English learners who wish to enrich their idiom vocabulary and those who struggle with understanding idioms.
