Review of Restore Trust
The book Restore Trust by Werner Neff is a book containing interesting analysis of the economic and political scenario in the United States. The author has clearly explained the role of corporates and lobbyists in influencing the economic policies of the government to their benefit, but burdening the common man. In an exclusive manner, the author has explained in detail how gerrymandering influences the voter and decides the electoral fate of a State. By citing suitable examples wherever necessary, the author highlights the disparity between the corporates and the common man in a scenario where almost fifty percent of the government funds are drained in welfare measures, burdening the common man through taxes for funding the welfare measures.
I like this book for the simple way of presentation and easy flow of the matter without much diversion. The author has presented complicated matter such as etc in such a simple manner that the reader is not lost in a jargon of technical terms. He has explained how corporates ensures that the poor man remains poor through wage related measures, thus ensuring justification for the welfare measures, while the corporates themselves ensure that their financial position constantly improves by various strategic measures such as investing in infrastructure across the globe, online business etc. In one place he quotes a book seller stating that people walk into his Store, browse through the books and place order on Amazon for the book of their choice!
I have rated the book four out of four stars since I did not find any error in it. The author has provided at the end of the book, bibliography to help the reader to understand the subject better. The author has deeply studied economic and political scenario of the country and has made a sincere effort to educate the reader as to how the common man is being exploited and the only way to avoid this situation is to be alert, active and save the democracy in his or her own interest. The author has given a wake-up call through this book to the reader to be alert to the economic policies of the government to ensure that they are not detrimental to public interest.
I would recommend this book generally to one and all in any place, since the issues discussed in the book are becoming universal and there is an urgent need for each citizen to be alert and active to fight poverty, strengthen democracy and ensure he or she is not exploited by the ambitious corporates and politicians. The book is informative and educative. The author has presented the details in simple language for anyone to understand. This book helps to understand the economic issues better even by a layman.
