Review of Bitcoin Answered
What is Bitcoin? Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency; then, what is a cryptocurrency? These questions have become more and more common as cryptocurrencies increase their popularity. Bitcoin is the most known cryptocurrency; most people have heard of it but still don’t know what it is since it is a complex concept to understand. Some people say it is a scam, some others say investing in it will make you rich, and I’ve even heard it might mark the start of the end of humanity as we know it. So, there’s undeniably a mysterious and ambiguous aura around Bitcoin.
Bitcoin Answered by Jon Law & Alan John is just what the title says: a compilation of answers to common questions about Bitcoin, starting with “What is Bitcoin?” followed with answers about how it started, how it works, pros and cons, and even what are some Bitcoin conspiracy theories. The authors break down the basic concepts and construct throughout the chapters more complex ideas, complementing them with graphics and charts.
The book is divided into short chapters, each responding to a different question. Generally, there’s a common thread between the chapters, but you can also take the book and read any of them to answer any specific question you may have at that moment. It contains over 100 answers about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general. In the end, it includes extra resources like books, podcasts, and YouTube channels that you can check out if you want to learn more about Bitcoin. It also has a bibliography, so it is noticeable all of the answers are well documented.
What I liked the most about Bitcoin Answered is the impartiality the authors handle throughout the book. The text intends to inform what Bitcoin is, backed up with verified information. It is not a commercial to sell Bitcoin, nor a manual on how you should trade. As the authors suggest: “do your research, think as rationally as possible, and make trading decisions you won’t regret.”
I cannot think of one thing I didn’t like about this book. Personally, I didn’t know much about Bitcoin and crypto before reading it, but now I have a more definite idea of what it is and how it works. I’m not an expert on Bitcoin -I still have many things to understand- but it is a good start.
I rate this book with four out of four stars. The editing was good, I only found one mistake. I think this is a useful book to have on your shelf to consult every now and then while entering the crypto world. I recommend it to people who have no idea what Bitcoin is and to beginners on the topic.
