Living without Jesus Christ makes one a sitting duck for the devil and his cohorts—this is the thrust of this book. When Angie started receiving spiritual nudges from God, she was surprised and thought she imagined them, but God's persistence eventually saw her heed his promptings. God gently charmed her into fulfilling her missionary purpose. In this book, she tells of her past life and how she attained a deeper understanding of her relationship with God.

Angie had already been married to an addict for years before encountering Jesus at a small Baptist Church. Throughout the year after her encounter, she felt different—she suddenly had improved vocals and felt a deeper connection to Christ through music. Unfortunately, her first marriage continued to crumble, and although she tried to exorcise the devil from her home, it didn't work—she eventually divorced. The Lord revealed Angie's calling in Isaiah 61, and though she had lost her way several times while searching for her purpose, she found her way back to her calling. Angie talks about finding one’s purpose as a businesswoman and gives directions on how to take action against the devil's manipulations.

For lack of a better way to describe it, Angie Nuttle's The Purple Life is a Christian self-help book. It is focused on businesswomen and shows the importance of God's purpose in their daily personal and business operations. According to Angie, walking in God's purpose, calling, and mission for your life is the key to unlocking unending favor and abundance. Angie's writing was intentional; she wanted to inspire a generation of businesswomen into a life of remarkable impact. Staying true to her strong Christian leanings, the author shared her experiences and stories and quotes from scripture to teach women like herself how to listen and talk to God and how to win the war against the devil. It was clear from her writing that Lydia, the purple seller—from Bible stories—was a huge inspiration for this book. This much is clear, starting from the book's title.

My favorite things about this book were the "Purple Minute" and "Getting with God" sections that appeared in many of the chapters. Between them, these sections provided points for prayer and reflection, as well as actionable tips to help the readers walk in God's purpose and resist the enemy. I loved the openness in Angie's writing, especially when she shared some of her personal experiences—as she did in Chapter 6. This gave me a glimpse into her personality.

Reading this book was an entirely positive experience; I didn't find anything to dislike. The book's editing was also professionally done, as I could barely find instances of grammatical or typographical errors. I rate it 4 out of 4 stars and recommend it to Christian women interested in business. However, I think women who don't identify as Christian or religious can also benefit from this book.
