I remember sitting in my living room waiting anxiously for the UPS guy to come by. At that time, I often did not get my UPS deliveries until 8pm, so it was hard for me to contain my excitement until 8pm, let me tell you. But it arrived and I got to open the box and check out my newest Amazon purchase. Nom Nom Paleo: Food for Humans is the first cook book of Michelle Tam and Henry Fong of the blog Nom Nom Paleo. If you haven’t checked out their blog and you are at all interested in cooking and eating healthy you should really check it out. Michelle is full of witty banter and her recipes are delicious. All of them. I have not been disappointed by anything I have tried. The pages are full of color pictures of each step of each recipe. That is a feat in itself. Taking the time to show how the recipe should look at each page is a fantastic feature in a cook book and takes a great amount of time for the authors.

I have made a number of the recipes in this book. My favorites include Fiona’s Green Chicken, which I made for the first time the week before last and my fiance loved. We will have it again this week. If you cook this recipe, make sure you save the bones for bone broth. I made bone broth for the first time last night. It is a rich and hearty broth soup. It’s August now, so I’m not really looking for recipes that will warm me up, but this recipe is still delicious and is full of all kinds of good stuff. I’ve also made the Korean Short Ribs multiple times. I usually use regular beef ribs and I can’t find short ribs in my local grocery story and leave out the pear since I find it really difficult to peel a pear and I don’t really like pears anyway. Put it all together in the crockpot in the morning (don’t bother with broiling the ribs…just stick them in the crockpot) and it will be ready when you get home in the afternoon.

The recipes in this book are all paleo, which means they do not include, gluten, soy, dairy, or anything processed. Even if you don’t follow this lifestyle, the recipes in this book are worth it. Eating non-processed, whole foods can never hurt and you will be surprised how tasty the recipes are. Do yourself (and your stomach) a favor and get this book.

Thanks for the review. Although I have no plans to go fully paleo, I do want to eat healthier and find better options for some of my favorite foods that are full of carbs, so a lot of paleo recipes do appeal to me. Thanks for the recommendation on the blog as well. It's something I'll definitely check out.
