Review of Feminist Therapist:
In this book, Feminist Therapist, Jessica Heriot presents us with a guide to discovering what the concepts of feminism are. To Jessica, feminism is both political and psychological. It is against this backdrop that she builds a career later in her life as a feminist therapist.
Feminist Therapist is an autobiography that takes the reader on a journey to discovering the author's challenges as a woman, her relationship with her mother, and the understanding she gained from it. This book also discusses her career as a feminist therapist and how she relates with her clients. Further into the book, she also examines what feminism is all about. Does feminism entail disrespect and separation from male counterparts? The author has shared a lot in this fantastic book.
I found some positive aspects of this book. It teaches with practical experiences who a feminist is as against who a feminist is portrayed to be. The language is straightforward to understand, and the style with which the story is told is both engaging and clear. I enjoyed the author's vast knowledge and her understanding of what feminism truly is. I found myself unlearning and learning new things about feminism. Also, this book answers questions on whether feminism entails separation by a wife from her husband. It discusses how a woman who wants to engage in politics and economics can still manage a home effectively. Also, the author exposes the marginalization the female folks have been subjected to and the fight for true freedom. By telling us about her marriage, the author gave an insight into modern-day family struggles. Also, I liked that the author explained how women struggle with things like menstruation, beauty, age, and appearances. I felt that the author left no stone unturned. I learned so many things from this book.
I tried so hard to find a negative aspect of this book; I found none. I enjoyed everything about this book.
I found minimal errors in this book. This shows that the book was professionally edited. The errors found were mainly punctuation problems. Thus, I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars.
I recommend this book to all persons, irrespective of age, gender, or class. Also, I recommend it to men because they need to understand the differences between the male and female folks and how these differences create the symphonic harmony we should ordinarily enjoy and not compete over. In summary, this is an amazing book, and the author deserves all the commendations.
