One of the most important things we spend a lot of time seeking in our lives is happiness. While this is something that we desperately want, most of us do not know how to achieve this, and it shows in every aspect of our lives. Nevertheless, B. Murray maintains that the keys to finding happiness remain in our possession, and we are responsible for utilizing these keys to get what we want. In this regard, his book, Happiness Mindset and Habits for Financial Success, presents several principles that we must adopt to attain true happiness that will affect different areas of our lives, including financial success and good health.

The first thing I like about the book is the author's focus on empowering readers by informing us that our happiness is really in our hands, and we can get the best by understanding the power of the mindset. Therefore, a lot of work is put into educating us on what the mindset is all about, the types of mindset (growth mindset and fixed mindset), and what it takes to change from a negative to a positive mindset. The author approaches this subject with a compassionate tone, as he understands that it is not as easy as it sounds to adopt the right mindset, which is why he does well to introduce us to different beneficial habits that should be practiced over time. B. Murray even goes further to simplify these habits by presenting them as daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly habits, making them easier to apply.

The author doesn't focus on being overly technical but instead focuses on our beliefs, which each of us is responsible for and can change with the right knowledge and effort. Another particular subject I enjoyed how the author approached was what success means to you and recognizing that it means different things to different people. A lot of people are still unhappy even after being successful because they have adopted other people's definitions of success. The role of contentment is also well highlighted in this section.

Regarding what I did not like about the book, I would point to the author's continuous repetition of several aspects of his lessons. I can understand the utilization of repetition in reminding readers, but I do not like when there is a chapter titled "Effective Ways to Upgrade Your Mindset" and another chapter titled "How to Change Your Mindset for the Better." Both of these chapters contained very similar content but in different words. The same was repeated in some of the other chapters. The author also included financial advice and business strategies in the book. While I found some of them helpful and would apply them, they felt a bit out of place for a book focused on changing habits and mindsets. The author can write another book focused on financial strategies and building new businesses, and I will definitely look to read it.

Overall, this was an enlightening read, and I felt motivated enough to start applying some of the concepts in changing my mentality. The book was professionally edited, as I found just a few minor errors while reading. It is also concise, easy to read through, and practical. Therefore, I rate this book three out of four stars. The excessive repetition resulted in not giving it the maximum rating. Readers who enjoy motivational self-help books will benefit a lot from this book.
