Review of My Life Journey in the New York Supreme Court
Are you a lawyer or judge, or want to be one? Are you interested in the proceeding of the court? And if yes, then this book should be your next read. My Life Journey in the New York Supreme Court, by Randolph Jackson, is a non-fiction book that discusses the experience of the author as a judge in New York.
This book comprises nine chapters. In the opening chapters, the author discusses the process of being a judge. He also explains the functions of the court and some misconceptions about the court. This part also tells us some interesting stories about his courtroom and how he handles them. In later chapters, he explains his journey from birth to joining law school and being a lawyer to becoming a supreme court judge. This part discusses some judges and their virtues that made them successful. And he also talks about some general mistakes that we should avoid, becoming a good person as well as a good judge.
In the end chapters, he talks about his personal life. In this part, he talks about family, travel, and retirement. He also talks about his favourite game and clubs in which he is a member. The author introduces many characters in the book. Because of that, sometimes, I have to go back in the book to know who he was discussing.
Personally, I like the cover of the book. It is attractive as well as explains the entire book. Even at 162 pages, It is a quick and easy read. Moreover, he shares some effective and easy ways to be a judge. It also discusses how we can become more successful as judges and lawyers. That makes this book more interesting. He, in addition, tells us about his other books to get in-depth on this topic.
The author uses some technical terms from law and court like ''gavel'' that can hinder readers, as they have to spend time understanding the meaning of the line. There are missing f-words on almost every page of the book. For example, the word ''first'' is written ''irst'' everywhere in the book. It annoys me a lot all through the book. Every so often, I have to guess whether the sentence is missing an f-word or not.
I give this book 2 out of 4 stars. This book contains no erotic or religious content. I found no vulgarity. The author should consider the book for one more round of proofreading and editing. Therefore, I do not provide this book with a higher rating.
Someone currently under the trial of any court case will find this book beneficial, as it may help them win the case. I believe those who want to be lawyers or judges find this book interesting, as it can assist them to be better lawyers or judges. This book will also appear intriguing for those who love to read autobiographies.

Thanks for stopping by and comment. I give the book only half stars because of its poor editing and broken flow of reading. If you want to read the book for the knowledge of the court and law, then you can give this book a try. Otherwise, you can pass this one. Happy reading!
