Official Review: Origin of evolution by Roy t james

The book starts out with a preface detailing why the author got interested in evolution, and his observation of the reflexes of animals. It then goes on to talk about the recorded differences between genders, like how females have a higher classroom success rate, and a history of sex on an evolutionary scale. The author states that sex in older species’ is often more painful, and can result in the male’s death. The final point is that evolution began with a desire for less painful sex, and that males usually have a slower reaction time because they are fearing when they will need to have sex.
The good things about this book are few, but they are there. One such thing is that the author backs his points pretty well, and you can tell that there’s a logical reason as to why he believes what he does. It’s also pretty creative that he named the chapters as though he was diagnosing a patient, though I often felt that the chapter name had little relevance to the content.
Unfortunately, I didn’t like the book very much at all. First, there are a lot of typos, which is an absolute problem in a book about science. If you’re already talking about matters that can be hard to understand, you simply can’t allow as many typos as I saw in this book. Another thing is that the book seems entirely too sexist, grouping all females as superior in some categories, and males in others. While the author might not be as sexist as the book suggests, he needs to be more careful if he wants his books to succeed in the modern world of tolerance. Also, Mr James sometimes looks over obvious evidence that challenges his theory, like how males always seem to be the ones to initiate the sex, so why should they be the ones who are scared?
I have to rate this book only 1 out of 4 stars. While it is an interesting theory that Mr James has come up with, I don’t believe that it was ready to be put into book format, and the execution was too poor for me to take his idea seriously. If the book were properly edited, then it might get two stars, but as it is, I can’t recommend it to anyone at all.
