Review of Lean, Agile & Scrum
A resilient organization is the desire of many in the business sector. Lean, Agile & Scrum by Gerjon Zomer is a book that speaks on building and thriving for a powerful team in an organization. It explores themes of decision-making, teamwork, and strategic planning.
The 127-page book is categorized into three sections. The book takes a critical look at theories and techniques that aid the sustainability of an organization even amidst change. The starting point of a project relies on the selection process. The author brushed on the global impact of COVID-19 and the response of some organizations. The author sheds more light on lean, agile, and scrum definitions. Lean involves the changing needs of people and the flow with time. Agile deals with the mindset. It was initiated by seventeen men with their combined knowledge, experience, and insights in software development. Lean and Agile have significant similarities, but they also have their differences. Is innovation feasible in an organization? In a world where change is inevitable, can a business thrive? Read this book to find answers to these questions.
I enjoyed the usage of real-life experiences as an example in the story. In the book, the author made mention of popular companies such as Wehkamp and Toyota. These made the book more significant and relatable. I found the book extremely useful for individuals who are yet to start a business and aspire to have one.
The author's choice of words is something I admire the most in this book. The ideas in the book were explained using easy terminologies, making it easy for none-business-oriented readers to understand. Although the book pertains mainly to executives and managers, I could still pick valuable lessons that could guide me, even without being involved in the business sector. The use of illustrations by the author in the book to further explain the author's points was extremely helpful. I could find nothing to dislike about this book, even though I felt more work could have been done on the first few pages.
I encountered some grammatical and punctuation errors, but that did not hinder my reading comprehension. The book was enlightening and impactful, and the subject matter applies to everyone irrespective of their profession. I am rating the book 4 out of 4 stars for these reasons.
In conclusion, I recommend this book to individuals who manage and own an organization. This book will shed more light on the techniques involved in having a sustainable business.
