[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Calm Your Storms and Move Your Mountains" by Martina Ngozi Igwe.]
Feed your mind with God's word, and you will be able to defeat the enemy of your soul. The author emphasises that when you are going through a difficult time in your life, keeping God's word close to your heart will help you achieve your goals. Calm Your Storms and Move Your Mountains is a self-help and motivational book by Martina Ngozi Igwe. The importance of belief in God, as well as the impact of being positive and using affirmations, are the key themes of the book.
The author begins by addressing the meaning of storms and mountains, furthermore explaining how our daily problems and obstacles are similar to these storms and mountains. She also discusses how we can combat them with the help of God's teachings. The book's title is summarised in the first chapter. The author expands on her point by quoting Bible texts and explaining the lessons we should take away from them. She argues that by refusing to entertain negative ideas, you gain the strength to overcome Satan and make him unable to control your mind. She also cautions us that none of this will work unless we fully comprehend and trust in it.
It is a short read of only 40 pages that focuses on boosting the readers' confidence and teaching them the importance of God and the Bible. What's worth noting is that the author doesn't suggest that if you keep God's word near to your heart, he'll do everything for you; instead, she emphasises that he'll give you the strength and courage you need to face your misfortunes.
One point that bothered me about the book was that it was poorly edited. It only needs one expert edit before it's ready to go. The reason I'm stating this is that I came across a number of grammatical and punctuation errors, and the spacing between words isn’t right in a few places. Furthermore, the alignment of the text is improper. These flaws hampered my reading flow and diminished my interest in the book. In addition, the same argument was repeated throughout the book, reducing the conclusion to a tiny point of trusting in God and proclaiming God's words.
For the reasons listed above, I would give this book 3 out of 4 stars. Overall, I enjoyed reading the book. I would recommend this book to anyone seeking emotional support, including those who believe in God and religion. Although the author focuses on the Bible, Jesus, and Christians to convey her message, I believe the book is suitable for people of all religions and beliefs. This book is equally suited for both older and younger generations.
