Review of Today's SOS
When the storms and hardships of life hit us, we feel the world is not worth staying in; we feel like life is not worth living. The hands of depression suck the will to live from us. We become plagued by a ghost that haunts our lives. We become shadows of the people we once were, and we believe everything has vanished. Anolia Orfrecio Facun, in the book Today’s SOS, admonished us that our life, our self, can be meaningful, beautiful, and fulfilling. Therefore, Anolia O. presented how we can re-discover life and redevelop the will to find a life worth living. Beginning with the definition of life in the Oxford Dictionary, he presented an exegesis of the dictionary meaning. Are we alive simply because we are alive, or because we are energized by life and motivated to be productive, or are we walking zombies? The reader is left to discover how to be productive and make life worth living.
The beauty of life is finding meaning, and the author has made the task of finding meaning in life easy as this book refocuses the reader on the means of finding meaning and purpose in life, and I love this about the book. The beautiful use of words and the imaginative scenarios make the book applicable to our daily lives. The author introduced the chapters with beautiful quotes that guide the reader on the reader’s journey to find purpose in life. The chapters contain a wealth of information and motivation that can help one organize one’s life to be successful and desire to live to the fullest. I'm pretty sure you can't read this book and stay the same.
The book is a must-read. The writing style is professional, and the content is enriching. On this note, I found nothing to dislike in this book.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 because it is a book that helps one to find purpose and raises one out of the shadows of self-condemnation. More so, the writing style is professional. On another note, the book title is also commendable as the author re-interpreted SOS (save our souls) to Secrets of Survival. The enriching content and logical coherence of the book make the above rating appropriate.
I recommend this book to people who are losing interest in life. It is also a must-read for young people transitioning into life and seeking to find purpose.
