Unspoken Things The Inlightenment by Wilfred Thomas was a journey into the relationship of the mind and the manifestation of our desires. Thomas asserted that one of the keys to abundance was 'giving' as stated in the Bible, "Give, and it shall be given unto you. Good measure pressed down, shaken together, and running over be poured into your lap." Yet, while he preached giving, he also cautioned that wisdom should be applied so that our resources would only go to those who need it.

Thomas's book was an expository piece that aimed to solidify what many believers and readers may have already known. First, Thomas reiterated the basic foundation of Christianity: free will. He presented God as the sovereign being whose authority was not dictatorial. I believed this part of the book would help non-Christian readers have some understanding of what Christianity was indeed about — a choice to either accept or reject the redemptive mercies of Jesus Christ.

Reading this book reminded me of the documentary film The Secret, which dwelt on the law of attraction, a principle very much akin to what Thomas had written in this book. The author was trying to show his readers that the mind was a powerful force field that could attract anything it desired. He backed this up with the Bible verse that said, "as a man thinketh in his heart, so he is." What the author advocated in this book was a journey towards mental transformation. However, he was also quick to advise readers that this journey was slow.

Thomas's book was religious; however, it was also very practical. Thomas got practical when he discussed the believers' ideology about money. I loved that the author did not feed any religious bigotry, as he discussed what was needed to make wealth and pointed out where believers had gone wrong.

The author also addressed an issue that had been the bane of the Christian faith in recent times. This is the issue of tithing and the church's disillusionment with it. Over the years, religious groups had been converted into some money-making venture. This had led many believers to doubt the validity of tithe payment. Readers with questions about this issue could find their answer in Thomas's unbiased analysis.

It was nice that the author drew from his personal experiences to drive his point home. However, the personal, real-life stories were few, and I felt that this could affect the impact of the author's message. Readers' mindsets would be better influenced when presented with several personal stories to establish the author's message as more than just theories. Alternatively, a robust pool of personal stories from famous figures with visible successes would further authenticate the author's assertions.

The book should also be subjected to another round of editing. On page 64, the Bible verse Mathew 6:38 was wrongly inserted. Chapter 6 of the book of Mathew ended in verse 34. What the author wanted to quote was Luke 6:38. Other errors adversely affected my reading flow also. In light of these errors, I’d rate Unspoken Things The Inlightenment three out of four stars. Finally, I'd recommend this book to all readers interested in exploring the power of their minds.

I believe that truth is truth. It doesn’t matter if you believe it to be so or not. However, this is not to say that truth cannot better understood.
