Gratitude is one of the keys to happiness in life. But why do people have a hard time practicing it? How can a person learn to have intimacy with God and appreciate their life? If you struggle with meditation, prayer, and letting go of things, The Gratitude Awakening Practice: A Daily Practice To Discovering Your Greatness is a great way to get started. Angel Jackson introduces the Five Foundational Steps and explains how to use them. The reader should take notes because the author fully expects readers to apply these steps once they read her book.

After reading each chapter, I could take notes easily because the author included blank pages after them. This note page was helpful after reading the success chapter. Writing down my goals with God involved in their progression helped me establish a God-oriented mindset. Readers should refer back to their notes often because they will be using them to reinforce their goals. Angel knew that readers would be more likely to follow her instructions if there was an area for notes, and I liked that she thought about the needs and actions of the readers.

The author also included examples of her application of the Five Foundational Steps in her life. By doing this, Angel assists readers with establishing a routine that is unique to them. For example, she suggests using a prayer closet for meditation. However, it does not have to be a literal closest because the author chooses a different room to meditate and pray. Because of the examples provided, I know exactly where I can have time with God.

There were only two things I did not like about the book. Angel wanted to make sure the reader understood what she was saying, but the approach felt too pushy. The Five Foundational Steps are sometimes written in bold print three times in two pages. The number of grammatical errors is the second thing that needs improvement. A professional editor can correct the grammatical errors present throughout this title.

I give The Gratitude Awakening Practice: A Daily Practice To Discovering Your Greatness 3 out of 4 stars. Giving this book two stars would not be fair because the repetitiveness is a personal preference that does not affect how helpful this title was. I recommend this book to readers who want to get closer to God. If the Bible, Jesus, God, prayer, and other religious elements like these offend a reader, they should look for something else to read. Readers will surely finish this book with a more grateful attitude towards life.

I don't really like religion-based books in the first place. An author being too pushy is just another reason to avoid them. Gratitude and a God-based attitude are wonderful things to learn, but they shouldn't be shoved in anyone's face. I'll be skipping this one. Thanks for the informative review.
