Review of The Brain-Based Classroom

[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "The Brain-Based Classroom" by Kieran O'Mahony.]
“In the US, a child drops out of high school every 26 seconds—that’s more than a million children pushed out of school every year.”
The Brain-Based Classroom by Kieran O’Mahony is an educational nonfiction book. The major book’s emphasis is on the teachers. From his professional experience, the author shares research data and offers strategies and solutions in the classrooms. He divides the book into three sections. In Part One, he examines methods that will help increase students’ involvement. Part Two focuses on the brain components that are essential to creative thinking. He explains critical tactics for modern-day students in Part Three. The book contains references, a glossary, and an index to help the reader navigate through the book.
The author covered all areas one would expect from a teachable book, and one would read to find resources for the material at hand. Furthermore, this book contains explanations, research data, examples, and proof-based conclusions. It is a convincing educational masterpiece. The author offers many solutions for disruptive behaviors appearing in the learning environments with a heavy emphasis on the mental state of the students. This book, through neuroscience, gives techniques that any teacher can use.
“Children are born with the potential to learn, but they are not always able to get there on their own.”
After presenting other teachers with the problem and solution, the author included their reactions and perspectives. I enjoyed reading that part because I understood the conditions of the schooling system better and how to improve it. These new ideas will assist educators in resolving classroom difficulties and disruptive behaviors. The author discusses the complexity and troubles teachers and students faced during the pandemic and distance learning.
I found nothing about this book that I disliked. Sure, it is a book a reader needs time to read and study. Nevertheless, there is room for improvement. This book needs another round of proofreading. I would rate this book with an almost perfect score of three out of four stars. Sadly, I found enough errors that, per guidelines, require a lower rating. Other than that, I consider this a book worth the highest rating.
The Brain-Based Classroom is a must-read book for all the teachers out there. Such a well-researched and presented book is essential for all people working in the educational system. Furthermore, I would recommend this book to parents. Knowledge is power, and this book is a perfect resource that provides a plethora of information they can use. Perhaps the best way is to purchase this book in a paperback edition so you can study it easier.
