Being an enthusiast of history, I was delighted to find out how a certain missionary evangelist called Richard Sugden took the message of God from the United States, where he lived to countries in Africa and Asia. This book is an autobiography, and it comprises twelve chapters. The author focuses on his experiences in these countries where he held meetings with his team from one village to another. He told the readers of the challenges they faced, their victories, and many testimonies they recorded.

The Life of a Modern Day Missionary began with a brief history of the author, Richard Sugden. The author told us about his early days as a teenager in Colorado. He talked about all that he accomplished during the years he spent in college. He also spoke of his involvement in a Christian group in Ohio. He got married to Becky, and at that time, he faced great financial challenges. Was he able to come out of this financial setback? How did he reach the nations in Africa and Asia? I encourage you to get a copy of this book to find out.

I found some positive aspects in this book. The first is the author's effort to translate some of the words used in the book. This helped my understanding as I read. I particularly loved learning words like Obosomose, which means “under the fetish god,” Uppunuthalea,” which means “Salt Lake,” Kumaravonibally, which means “potters village.” Another positive aspect of this book is that the author also provided the correct pronunciation of the words which the reader might be unfamiliar with. For instance, I would not have known how to pronounce words like Ahwedease and Srisailam. Another good aspect of this book is the precision in details provided by the author, like dates, figures, and exact locations mentioned in the book. This shows the effort put into the writing of this book. I enjoyed the moderate length of the book.

I tried so hard to find a negative aspect of the book, but I found none. I enjoyed everything about this book. I found only one error in this book; it was professionally edited. Therefore, I rate this book The Life of a Modern Day Missionary 4 out of 4 stars.

I did not give this book a lower rating since the error I found did not take away my overall satisfaction from the book; it was intriguing and enjoyable to read.

I recommend this book generally to those who love reading non-fiction books worldwide and particularly to those who love to read about history. Anyone who loves history books would enjoy reading this book.

I personally think autobiographies are captivating because there is a lot of emotion involved when the story comes directly from the horse's mouth. Being a Christian, this book would be lit.
