The Altitude Journals by David J. Mauro is an amazing memoir of the author of this book. This is a seven-year adventure that started when the author was at the lowest point in his life. When he was a young boy, his father left them and got married to another woman. As a result, his mother became the sole breadwinner of the family. He grew up without experiencing fatherly love. Later on, his brother died from alcohol. Mauro always felt responsible for his brother’s death. He constantly blamed himself for failing to save his brother’s life. At the age of 44 years, Mauro got a divorce from his wife. This became the lowest point in his life. At this point, his brother-in-law invited him to join a team that was planning to go on a mountain climbing adventure at Denali. After his first mountain climbing experience, his life took a different direction. He embarked on a journey to the high summit of all seven continents. His adventure took him to Everest, Carstensz Pyramind, Vinson Massif, Aconcagua, Elbrus, and Kilimanjaro. During this journey, he began to confront his personal mountains of divorce and the death of his brother. Mauro learned something from each mountain climb.

One thing I admired while reading this book is the author’s willingness to share his worst fears, challenges, failures, and achievements. I found his writing style very engaging. The author vividly describes all the events that took place during his seven-year adventure. This enabled me to visualize every mountain climbing adventure throughout the book. I was impressed by how the author’s journey brought him personal healing and fulfilment. It gave his life a new meaning.

I did not find any negative things while reading this book. This book is captivating and full of lessons to learn. It inspired me to embark on a journey of climbing and overcoming my personal mountains.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The book was exceptionally well-edited. I did not come across any grammatical errors while reading it. Additionally, this book is full of adventure and humor.

I would like to recommend this book to people who like reading books full of adventure. Those interested in mountain climbing will also love it. This book will surely teach you how to overcome challenges in life. The Altitude Journals is a very good motivational book. I felt very motivated after reading this book.
