Disasters to Dreams is a book that is inspired by a true life story of its author, an autobiography of sorts. Though presented with different reasons to throw in the towel when presented with prickly challenges time after time, Chris Patricks learns to communicate with the universe in a way that positively affects his own life. Much like the beautiful Japanese art technique- Kintsugi, he was able to reform the broken pieces of his life.

Life dealt Chris its most cruel hands; he was wrongly accused of a serious crime, dropped out of school, lost his mentor, lost his job on several occasions, had failed relationships and almost committed suicide. Yet he was able to pull through and with every challenge he surpassed, he got to realize that the universe mirrors the thoughts one has for themselves and through expansion of the walls of the mind, every opportunity we seek and the courage to persevere till the very end can be harnessed.

I would give this book a 4 out of 4 rating. The editor did a wonderful job with making the language articulate, simple and easy to read and assimilate, providing no grammar complexities that can hinder the understanding of the message the book has to offer. I have no doubt that it would serve as an encouragement to anyone stuck in a state of mental and emotional inadequacy; a much needed boost also to anyone currently seeking replenishment towards achieving a set goal.

The author was able to make us understand that although life can be cruel, time really does make all the difference with perseverance and of course, the right people. Another beautiful thing about this book is that it was able to gather the experience of some accomplished men and women who have braved through different types of issues that humans go through stating how they did it and also giving their advice to any and all who may be going through the same or similar issues such as what they experienced.

At the end of each chapter is a section saddled with questions and suggestions for useful personal reflections where one can answer important questions about themselves. I would recommend this book to adults, young adults and teenagers; anyone who has been beaten hard by life’s circumstances, anyone looking for a push ahead to brave through the storm, anyone feeling stuck in various aspects of life and essentially looking for realistic and insightful advice on this ship we call Life.
