Review of Horseback Across Three Americas

Horseback Across Three Americas by Verne R. Albright is a very adventurous escapade undertaken by Albright in his youthful age. Having grown up subject to the constant change of environment, Albright, also later known as Pablito, was very inclined to switch hobbies, jobs, environments, and virtually everything about his life. Boredom was a likely effect of being on a particular thing for a long while. But one thing was sure, when it came to horses, Pablito was never bored, and he loved daring adventures.
Anne, his wife, had two children for him before their divorce after five years of marriage. After two years of importing, promoting, and selling "Peruvian Pasos horses," Pablito decided to embark on a thrilling ride on "Peruvian Pasos horses" from South to North America, which was over five thousand miles and across eleven borders. His intention, if he succeeded, was to promote the Peruvian horses and enter the Tevis Cup contest with his best horse. But that would only be possible if he succeeded.
Pablito's daring adventure was a risk and a huge one. We read how he was exposed to bandits, high altitude, unfamiliar climate change, and even a tendency of money mishaps. Pablito's journey was an exciting one for me. I considered his actions courageous and inspiring, but the results would determine the final impact of his journey. He was also driven by the success of his role model, Aimé F. Tschiffely, who had gone on such an adventure before. Pablito's ability to overlook all the possible disadvantages and set his focus on his goal is indeed a definition of courage. This aspect of the book had much impact on me. I considered it one of the positives aspects.
His detailed information about every place, event, and geographic landscape would help readers visualize his adventure. He fully captured the content of his surroundings and his relationship with people. Also, Pablito had a seemingly strange relationship with his horses. It was like a parent-children relationship. He could at all times tell their reactions and respond to them effectively, although most locals found this strange. But Pablito's relationship didn't just end with his horses. It was spiced up by a certain damsel he met along the way.
The one aspect of the book that seemed to weary me was the long description of the ride. It looked almost endless. The end was worth the time invested in reading. In the light of all these, I rate Horseback Across Three Americas 3 out of 4 stars. I took out a star because of the negative issue I discussed above. The book was professionally edited.
I recommend this book to lovers of adventurous books. The narrative was very educational and would improve the knowledge of different species of horses. Those with a limited geographic description of America would also appreciate this book.
